The Chamber welcomes new member KevinLiu, owner and operator of Qualitas Cleaners, aresidential house cleaning business.

Mr. Liu started this business in 2016 when hewas looking to hire a house cleaning companyfor his own home, but was disappointed and frus-trated by the lack of professional and reliablecleaning businesses.

There always seemed to be a problem with ei-ther the quality of the cleaning, communication, and security or legal issues. Kevin’s frustrationseventually led him to start his own cleaning ser-vice, Qualitas Cleaners.

During the process of hiring a cleaning ser-vice, Kevin found the whole ordeal of getting aprice quote and booking an appointment ex-tremely time-consuming. “I would call, but mostof the time, nobody would pick up,” explainsKevin, “So I would leave my information and waitto hear back. I would mostly wait hours, butsometimes I had to wait days just to get the price!”

Realizing that time is precious for those folkslooking to hire a house cleaner, Kevin offers hiscustomers the option of booking a cleaningonline on the Qualitas Web site. Prospective cus-tomers can find out the pricing of cleaning, se-lect a date and time, and lock in the booking in60 seconds.

Qualitas vouches for all their cleaners by in-terviewing them, checking references, and con-

ducting ab a c k -g r o u n dc h e c k .They arealso all in-sured andbonded.

So even though physiologi-cally I remain somewhere be-tween 30 and 40 years old, there’s no denying I hung up myTC shingle going on 42 yearsago. Geez, New England Patri-ots’ quarterback Tom Brady andKanye weren’t even born yet.

But what better time to ex-pand? And we’ll have our veryown sign ... and twice as muchspace.

The contractor and dentalequipment guy agree that wemight even be fully up and run-ning with the additional spaceby Thanksgiving ... so we’ll beprepared for the Super Bowland hope for Turkey Day.

And it’ll be awesome provid-ing care for more family andfriends.

Only half of the U.S. sees thedentist on a regular basis.

Diabetes and pre-diabetestogether impact one-third ofthe U.S. population.

Periodontal/gum diseaseand diabetes successfully makeone another worse; one-third ofthose with diabetes also con-tend with periodontal disease;diabetes is the No. 4 killer in theU.S. Glad we’re expanding.

When I arrived here in 1976I thought I somehow landedright in the middle of a NormanRockwell painting. And SoCal(including our town) is an ever-changing place, the fabric ofwhich seems richer by the day.You can have Chickasha, Okla-homa; I love Temple City.

And if I could, I’d adopt my

Three non-spousal IRA beneficiarieswalk into a bar. Over a round of ShirleyTemples, AJ, Bob and Chad comparenotes on how differently they handledtheir inheritance.

AJ’s mother informed him in advancethat he was a named beneficiary andabout the benefits of a stretched inher-ited IRA.

He completed a direct transfer to aproperly titled inherited IRA in the yearof this mother’s passing.

Each year, he withdraws a reducedand taxable RMD based on his life ex-pectancy instead of his mother’s. AJ’snow able to let the account grow, taxdeferred, over the remainder of his life-time.

Bob was also a named beneficiary, buthe did nothing with his inherited funds.

He didn’t develop a distribution strat-egy and just let the money sit. About fiveyears later, he received a letter from theplan administrator - the tax code’s timelimit had run out.

Dupuy Circle becomes TC’s newest streetTemple City’s newest street is Dupuy Circle, in honor of a pioneeringfamily with strong ties to the area. Emigrating from the FrenchPyrenees in the 1800s, Raymond and Marie Dupuy settled near whatis now Cal. State L.A. University and established a thriving sheepranch. Their son, Sylvester Dupuy, was a successful landowner andoil investor. He, along with Walter Temple, subdivided portions oftheir land for development which eventually became Temple City.Dupuy Circle, the location of six new homes built around a cul-de-sac, is located off Olive Street, between Temple City Boulevard andCloverly Avenue.

Chad’s father didn’t even name a ben-eficiary for his IRA, so the funds de-faulted to his father’s estate.

Chad was the sole heir and he did endup claiming the account. However, hecouldn’t take advantage of the stretchIRA strategy. The IRS only allows this op-tion to named, non-spousal beneficia-ries.

Chad was allowed to withdraw thefunds whenever he chose, but within afive year period, and pay taxes, too.

In order to avoid a barroom brawl, Albought the boys another round.
