23/27 Halfback Trap

This counter is especially effective against a 5-2 defense.

This is our B gap counter This counter is of the belly action. Even 4 technique tackles have difficulty

squeezing the trap

In Jet motion we like to trap back away from the slanting nose. If the backside defensive tackle does not squeeze with great technique we can really hurt a slanting defense.

Variations –

Crack or Stalk – We will crack if we get an inverting defense when the F/S is the alley player. We like to stalk when the team is playing 3 deep with no rotation

Reach or Down block – Whether the end man on the line of scrimmage reaches or blocks down is of paramount importance. If the player inside the EMOLOS is not a threat we reach. If this player penetrates we must block down.

Up formation – We use the UP formation to get a great SE the ball.

24/26 Trap

This is and easy counter off the Jet sweep. This is our A gap counter Guards are selected because of there

ability to pull and trap. The Jet trap complements the Jet sweep

and the same manner traditional trap aids the Buck sweep

424 Trap vs 4-3/4-4

The Trap is the play that keeps the defense honest. This slows linebackers and stops the defensive pursuit.

424 Trap

midline until receiving the ball 3- 1st backer from 5 bends to the right 4- Lead, backer, influence RHB – Jet motion,

424 Gut

We like Gut vs. G defenses with defenses tackles that chase our Jet Sweep. The spotter in the box what’s the DT when running the Jet and if they don’t squeeze immediately we will counter with the Gut

Odd Block

424 Odd vs 5-2

When facing a 50 defense with a 4 technique tackles we like to odd block the 4 technique while blocking the nose any way he wants to go.

Rip 426 Trap vs 5-2

We like to trap back with the fullback vs. 50 defenses. The nose usually likes to slant to our Jet motion and by trapping away from the nose we can sometimes run to and uncovered gap backside.

Rip 426 Trap vs 5-2

Our most effective trap play is back to the weak side defensive tackle. If he is aligned in a 5 technique this play is almost impossible to stop. The motion will initiate slanting techniques by the defensive line.

23/27 Halfback Trap

This counter is especially effective against a 5-2 defense

This is our B gap counter Designed to control the scraping inside

linebackers This counter is of the belly action This allows our guard to block the nose alone 4 technique tackles have difficulty squeezing the

21/29 Sally

The Sally is our number one counter play. The sally controls the hard scraping inside

linebackers. The sally is an A gap counter. If you let linebackers scrape hard, flat down the

line of scrimmage they can control your outside running game.

You cannot allow the inside linebackers to make the play on the Jet and Rocket sweep.
