The Quarterly COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SOCIAL SERVICES Rubidoux Community Resource Center The FRC program focuses on four Practice Methods: Well-Being Services, Growth & Development, Civic Engagement, and Community Building. Many service vendors come to the FRC to provide such services. To receive services, contact the phone numbers provided by the vendor. Well-Being Services Family support home visiting; access to emergency daily living resources: food, clothing, shelter; case management: family development, planning, guidance, mentoring; counseling; safety: access to car seats, access to bike helmets; development screenings; differential response; Child Welfare visitation and supervision; resource and referral; basic need support. Growth & Development Parent/child interaction groups; parent education and leadership; school readiness liaisons; youth development activities/ classes; healthy living classes: exercise, anger management, stress relief; computer literacy; tax preparation; immigra- tion workshops; Parent Cafés (topical); family economic development; support groups: child kinship caregivers, new parents, 12-step groups. DIRECT SERVICES FROM THE CENTER RUBIDOUX COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER Information and Referral services Customer's can obtain a list of agencies that provide basic needs such as: food banks, shelter and housing, and rental & utility assistance. It includes locations and direct phone numbers. We’ll often have information on local family empowerment programs and community events including: afterschool programs, parenting clas-ses, job fairs, and other workshops.

Computer Use The Center has a computer available to the public to access the Internet. Uses include but are not limited to: finding job listings, local resources, and printing any important documents.

Document Services We can help with faxing applications or other important documents. There is no fee for faxes or copies. Copies are provided in black and white and are limited to 10 pages. We can help Spanish speakers with understand-ing English applications and forms. We do not tran-scribe documents or notarize.

UTILITY ASSISTANCE SERVICES

COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP (CAP)

Come during office hours to pick up an application for CAP’s Utility Assistance program or call to have it emailed to you. When completed, we can FAX your application to CAP for processing.

KID POWER SELF DEFENSE CLASS

RIVERSIDE AREA RAPE CRISIS CENTER (RARCC)

Tuesday November 21, 2018 3:00pm-4:00pm and 4:00-5:00pm

Kid Power is a self-defense class for children, ages 4-12. Topics addressed include personal safety, assertive-ness training and physical techniques for self-defense.

ESL CLASSES

ESL or English as Second Language, is a pro-gram designed to provide opportunities to adults, regardless of their immigration status. This program is for those who have not com-pleted high school, desire to learn English, and advance in the workforce.

MAMÁS Y BEBÉS

Every Tuesday ……………....9:00am -11:30 am November & December 2018

Pregnancy & Postpartum support classes: a program dedicated to helping moms before and after baby, who want to build support and ex-plore the joys and challenges of motherhood. These are 8 week classes. Free child care is provided for participants. Class is free to wom-en who are pregnant or have a 0-12 month old and meet program criteria.

PARENTING CLASSES

6-week series of once-a-week workshops de-signed to strengthen parenting skills. Different topics are discussed each week, such as: Nur-turing Parenting for Parents of Infants, Tod-dlers, & Preschoolers; Parenting for Parents of School Agers; Parenting for Parents of Adoles-cents; and Parenting for Teen Parents, Military Parents, Fathers, and for Families in Sub-stance Abuse. This is a court approved pro-gram, agency provides certificate of completion at the end of the course. Classes offered in English and Spanish. Proof of residency is re-quired.

El programa FRC se centra en cuatro

Métodos De Práctica: servicios de bienestar,

crecimiento y desarrollo, compromiso cívico, y

construcción de la comunidad. Organizaciones sin

fines de lucro vienen al Centro para dar servicios.

Servicios de Bienestar

Apoyo familiar con visitas a domicilio; acceso a

recursos de emergencia de la vida cotidiana: co-

mida, ropa, alojamiento; gestión de casos: desa-

rrollo familiar, planificación, orientación, mento-

ría; consejería; seguridad: acceso a asientos de

carros para niños, acceso a cascos de bicicletas;

proyecciones de desarrollo; respuesta diferencial;

visitas y supervisión del bienestar de los niños;

soporte en encontrar recursos y artículos de pri-

mera necesidad.

Crecimiento y Desarrollo

Grupos de interacción padre/hijo; educación y

liderazgo de los padres; los enlaces de prepara-

ción escolar; actividades/clases para el desarrollo

juvenil; clases para una vida saludable: ejercicio,

control del enojo, alivio del estrés; clases de

computación; preparación de impuestos; talleres

de inmigración; Cafés para Padres (temas de

actualidad); desarrollo económico familiar; grupos

de apoyo: cuidadores de parentesco infantil,

nuevos padres, grupos de los 12 pasos.

Compromiso Cívico

Registro del votante; red de Promotores; redes de

vecindarios; abogacía y entrenamiento de

defensoría (individual y social); capacitación en

liderazgo comunitario; talleres de prevención

sobre de la violencia; coordinadores de recursos

comunitarios; celebraciones comunitarias;

actividades de desarrollo juveniles; oportunidades

del voluntariado comunitario.

Construcción de la Comunidad

Desarrollo económico comunitario; asociación y

desarrollo de las viviendas asequibles;

SERVICIOS DIRECTOS DEL CENTRO RUBIDOUX COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER Servicios de Información y Referencia Clientes pueden obtener una lista de agencias que pro-veen ayuda con necesidades básicas como: comida, vivienda y albergue, y asistencia para la renta y utilida-des. Incluye direcciones y números de teléfono. Co-múnmente tendremos información sobre programas locales que fortalecen la familia y eventos comunitarios incluyendo: programas para después de la escuela, clases para los padres, ferias de trabajo, y otros talle-res.

Uso de Computadora El centro cuenta con una computadora disponible al publico para acceso al internet. Se puede usar para: encontrar listas de empleo, recursos locales, e impri-miendo documentos importantes.

Servicios Documentales Ofrecemos ayuda con el fax de documentos importan-tes de manera gratuita. Copias se pueden conseguir en blanco y negro con un limite de 10 paginas. Asistimos a los de habla hispana con preguntas sobre aplicacio-nes y documentos en ingles. No transcribimos docu-mentos o proveemos servicio de notario.

COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP (CAP)

Visítenos durante las horas de oficina para conseguir una aplicación para el programa de asistencia de utili-dades CAP o llame para que se le envié una por correo electrónico. Las aplicaciones completas son enviadas por fax desde nuestra oficina para ser procesadas por CAP.

Mamás y Bebés es un programa dedicado a ayudar a las mamás antes y después del bebé que quieren desarrollar estrategias de apoyo y explorar las alegrías de la maternidad. El pro-grama consiste de8 clases semanales. Cuida-do infantil es disponible. Gratis para mujeres que están embarazadas o tienen bebés de 0-12 meses de edad y cumplen con los criterios del programa.

Serie de talleres semanales (6 semanas) dise-ñados para fortalecer las habilidades parenta-les. Cada semana se considera un tema dife-rente, tal como: Crianza cariñosa para los Pa-dres de infantes, niños pequeños y preescola-res; Crianza para los Padres de adolescentes; y Crianza para Padres Jóvenes, Padres Milita-res, y para Familias en Abuso de Sustancias. Este es un programa aprobado por la corte, se le proveerá un certificado de compleción al terminar el curso. Clases son ofrecidas en In-glés y Español. Prueba de residencia es reque-rida.
