1 Courageous Hound Dear Parents / Carers and Friends of Bolingbroke, Last term we publicised the opportunity for a new Parent Governor. I’m delighted to announce Justine Aspey has been appointed to this role. A key part of her role will be to share the fundraising activities with the Local Governing Body and to be a voice for parents through her role as Parent Council Chair. At the next Parent Council meeting I will be sharing the outcomes of the parent survey on Wednesday 20 th January from 7pm. This is an edition of announcements and I’m pleased to share that Mrs Harris is pregnant and will be going on maternity leave at May half term. Mr Thorpe (Inclusion Co-ordinator) commenced his role last Monday. He is working alongside Ms Bessa to support pupils to thrive and make the most of all opportunities at the Academy. On Monday 18 th January Ms Miller with be joining us as a Maths Teacher. She has a masters in engineering from the University of Southern California from Los Angeles and has extensive experience in America and Europe, teaching for over 10 years including leading a department. Ms Morris also joins us on Monday as our Lead Receptionist. She will be is looking forward to meeting and greeting you all to future events at the Academy. Ms Edis Volume. 4 Issue. 8 Friday 15th January COMBINED PARENT COUNCIL MEETING, PARENT SURVEY AND MEET THE GOVERNORS IN THE COMMONS 20 TH JANUARY 7.00 – 8.30 PM We are delighted to invite you to the next Parent Council meeting where Miss Edis and Miss Bessa will discuss the results of the Parent Survey as well as providing some background to the behavioural polices adopted by the Academy. Following on from this there will be the opportunity to meet some of the Governors of Bolingbroke Academy. The format will be: 7.00 – 7.30pm -Parent Council meeting with Guests Miss Edis and Miss Bessa 7.30 - 8.30pm - Overview of the role of the Governors by the Chair of the Board, Gareth Davies; followed by the chance to informally chat to him and other Governors. Miss Edis and Members of the Parent Council Committee will also be on hand to chat to. Non-alcoholic and nut free refreshments will be available. We look forward to welcoming you as we continue to further enhance links between the Academy and Parents/Carers. Please contact me on [email protected] should you require further information. Over the past 2 weeks we have held two parents evenings; Year 8 and Year 10. It has been a terrific opportunity for parents/carers and pupils to review their progress in each subject area. We appreciate it is a busy evening and if you did not manage to see one of your child’s teacher please do not hesitate to contact them via e-mail – please see page 13 for contact details. Lastly Bugsy Malone is coming to Bolingbroke Academy! If you know your child has a flare for drama please do not hesitate to encourage them to sign up and audition.
