Fairfield’s Shelterbelt Project Gets Help From Idaho Power is past week the manager, Janice Jacobson, Kings Variety Store in Gooding handed out three Idaho Community Foun- dation grant awards to local non- profit organizations. e Wendell Senior Center received $2000 to help provide comfortable seating in their new building which recently opened across from the Wendell City Hall. Gooding County ICF Grants Earlier this year, a shel- terbelt project was started to help protect the Camas Medical Services building and the emergency heli- pad from wind blown dust and snow. is project was started when Wes Fields expressed concerns and of- fered to donate trees. On Monday of this week, Idaho Power representitive, Dan Olmstead, braved the winter storm to present a $2000 check to the Cam- as Conservation District (CCD). is puts the fund- ing for the shelterbelt proj- ect at 87% with only $800 left to raise. e main water lines have been installed to the location and next spring the City of Fairfield will work on put- ting in the alterial lines to water a half dozen rows of trees which will include dogwood, juniper, etc. Dan Olmstead said this was an unusual project for Idaho Power to fund.
