Getting started with certification is a series of publications to help those starting out on the certification route to improve management and manufacturing processes, and to comply with regulatory requirements. Prepared by experts from across the BM TRADA Group, the series includes books on:

• Chain of custody certification for forest products

• Energy management and ISO 50001:2011 certification

• Sustainable palm oil certification (RSPO)

Factory production control for construction product certificationThis guide explains the vital role that factory production control (or FPC) plays in CE marking products for the construction industry in the European Union. All manufacturers ofconstruction-related products covered by European harmonised standards (of which there are now over 400) must have an FPC system in place from July 2013. This is to comply with the Construction Products Regulation, as part of the requirement for CE marking.

If an FPC system is systematically documented and well-implemented it is likely to increase the efficiency and profitability of the factory. In the absence of a standard, this entry-level book describes how to set up and run an FPC system using ISO 9001 (Quality Management) as a model, with helpful definitions of the key terms. In addition, to help manufacturers with this important task, there are samples of the types of procedures and information to include in an FPC manual.

Topics covered:• Product certification• CE marking

Getting started with Sustainable palm oil certification Palm oil is a component in a wide range of products such as food and some household goods. Responsible manufacturers, retailers and other organisations have a keen interest in ensuring it is sustainably grown and sourced. This guide will help you get to grips with the supply chain certification process: how it works, how to get started, supply chain models, the “eTrace” system, use of RSPO trademarks and rules on corporate claims and statements.

Prepared by experts from across the BM TRADA Group, the series includes a range of titles on certification and best practice process management.

Getting started with Chain of custody project certification Interest in chain of custody project certification is growing significantly, with national and EU legislation increasing the obligations on the construction industry to prove that products they specify for construction projects are from sustainable sources.

Private construction companies and government organisations involved in construction projects of any size need to demonstrate that they specify and procure timber products on a chain of custody basis: the unbroken and traceable path that products take from the forest to the final end product.

This accessible guide will help you to understand Chain of Custody Project Certification for FSC and PEFC Standards by explaining what it is, how you can begin to implement it for your project and who can support you in this process. There are also references to successful case studies which incorporate certification at the project level, and infographics illustrating the process.
