2. APS Major Description
APS: Human Resource Development Goals
The college of Asia Pacific Studies aims to cultivate human resources that, upon comprehensive understanding of the diverse political conditions, economies, societies, and cultures of the Asia Pacific region, will;
1. achieve basic and advanced knowledge in such areas as global society, environment and development, and tourism;
2. develop language, communication and problem-solving abilities; and
3. through understanding of the diverse problems facing the Asia Pacific, will be able to contribute to sustainable development and coexistence in the region.

The College of Asia Pacific Studies has established four Areas of Study in order to
conduct education and research for the development of wide-ranging problem
solving ability and specialized know-how of the issues facing the Asia Pacific region.
Studies are centered on solid language proficiency and a basic understanding of the
diverse cultures, histories, societies, natural environments, and historical conditions
of the Asia Pacific region. As a part of graduation requirements, students must
choose one Area of Study from the following and then complete at least 2 credits
from the required subjects (Common Liberal Arts Subjects) for the Area of Study of
your choice and 28 credits from the Major Education Subjects for the Area of Study.

APS: Required Subjects for Area of Study(Common Liberal Arts Subjects)
At APS, subjects required for each Area of Study are stipulated. Students will tackle questions such as
what a designated academic field is and become acquainted with a wide-angle view of the problems
and the objectives of these fields. These subjects serve as the first step to a broader and a deeper
learning in the academic fields by providing students with the basic knowledge and theories they
need to understand the field.

Please keep the following points in mind when registering for courses.
① Campusmate cannot be used between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM (Japan Standard Time) each day. APU cannot guarantee the integrity of any data submitted exactly at 3:00 AM.
② Please change your password regularly and take precautions to safeguard your personal information.
③ Please observe the following rules in order to avoid system errors. Please also note that no special exceptions will be made for problems or errors resulting from a student’s mistake.
• Please use Internet Explorer. You may encounter errors if you use other browsers.
• Do not log in multiple times with the same user ID at the same time.
• Please carry out registration procedures exactly as instructed in this Course Registration Manual.
Log into Campus Terminal, then “Campusmate”
STEP # 1:Open Campus Terminal in your browser, then click “CampusmateWeb(APU)” on the right-hand side.
Log into “Campusmate”
STEP #2:Change the language to English, enter your User ID and Password, then click “Login”. Use the same User ID and Password that you used for Campus Terminal.
The latest information is displayed in the Information Menu (i.e. CourseRegistration Periods, etc.) Please check this area for notices regularly!
5. Other Academic Information
Course Registration is the most important part of implementing your education plan. It isabsolutely essential in attending class, receiving credit and graduating from APU. In order toensure smooth progress through your education plan, please take utmost care when carryingout registration. For Course Registration and academic advising-related issues, please visitthe Academic Office for support.

Class Absences
• APU does not authorize absences other than due to Infectious Diseasesunder any circumstances.
• The procedure will differ depending on the cases.
In the event that you cannot attend classes due to unavoidable reasons,please inform your instructors. Each instructor will determine how tohandle your absence in these cases.
