PROCEDURE
Log into the Genesis Parent Portal at:
http://parents.fairlawnschools.org
Select the child who will be entering grades 9, 10,
11 or 12
Click the “Scheduling” tab, then the “Requests”
tab.
We recommend keeping a tab on your internet browser open with the
2019-2020 Course Prerequisites, which can be found at:
http://www.flhs.org/index.php/courses-scheduling
PROCEDURE
In EACH subject area, select “Request a Course”
You MUST select
the following
courses:
English 11
US History 2
Math
Science
Physical Education
PROCEDURE You will only be permitted to request courses at
the same level you are currently in.
Select a course by clicking the green “Request
This Course” button on the right.
Students who meet the prerequisites to move up
a level (i.e. college prep to honors) will be
permitted to do so when they meet with their
Counselor individually.
DO NOT enter a Priority ranking for academic
subjects.

Subject courses that say “Does Not
Satisfy Graduation Requirement” will
be counted as an elective
Please set a PRIORITY (1, 2, 3) to
rank your elective requests
Although the system will allow you to
select Priority 1 for electives in
different subject areas, you must only
choose one Priority 1, one Priority 2
and one Priority 3.

YELLOW HIGHLIGHTED courses indicate
courses that you have already completed or are
currently taking.
If you want to delete a course request, click the
Garbage Can icon to the right of it on the
“Requests” tab.
PROCEDURE On the “Requests” page, click the green “Submit”
button (top of screen) when you are ready to submit your requests
You must type the word “SUBMIT” in the pop up box to finalize your request
Once you submit your requests they will be locked and changes can only be made with your guidance counselor.
REVIEW You will choose a total of NINE (9) courses
5 or 6 core academic subjects including:

Physical Education
World Language (this is optional)
3 or 4 electives – you will only have one or two of these in your final schedule Priority 1

Counselor.

APPEALING YOUR PLACEMENT
If you wish to appeal a course that you are not
eligible for based on the prerequisite, see your
counselor for a copy of the process for writing a
letter of appeal. You may also download the letter

the Guidance page.

EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAM
Students would take courses at BCC both junior and senior year to earn an Associates Degree by graduation from FLHS
Criteria for students is at least a B average, Algebra 2 and a total of 70 credits completed by the end of sophomore year, clean disciplinary record and appropriate attendance, and fulfillment of the BCC testing requirement
Students attend half day at BCC and half day at FLHS
Concentrations offered are General Studies, Criminal Justice, Business Administration and Natural Science or Math
