WINTER WEATHER REMINDERS• When parking up against a

sidewalk, make sure your bumper does not overhang the curb. This will make it easier for the sidewalks to be shoveled clear of snow.

• Remember that with cold temperatures and precipitation come slippery sidewalks and floors. Wear weather appropriate shoes, slow down and walk carefully by shuffling your feet.

EMPLOYEE HEALTH BENEFITS UPDATESFrontPath members in need of dialysis services should seek services through US Renal Care of Northwest Ohio Dialysis (US Renal) in order to receive the highest discounts. For a list of locations see the FrontPatch website. Also as of February 15, 2018, the Plan reserves the right to direct payment for transplant services to transplant Centers of Excellence at the Plan’s discretion.

New Addition to Landscape at Job and Family ServicesLast year, a former patch of grass outside the Department of Job and Family Services was transformed into a new playground.

The playground was designed to provide an interactive experience for children between the ages of two and 12 during supervised visits with their families.

After the opening of the new play area, geese became a concern so five coyote statutes were added to surround the playground in an effort to keep the geese away. The coyotes are currently in storage for the winter, but when you see them return, you know summer will not be far behind.

During an average week, Childrens Services hosts around eight families who come to the agency for supervised visitation. Prior to building the playground, families only had the option of indoor visitation. Although they had puzzles and board games offered, the playground has been a hit with both the children and parents. “This playground has been very positive for the families we work with, “ explained Protective Services Supervisor Brandy Laux. “The playground allows the kids and their parents to interact and be active,” she added.

Money for the playground project was donated by Modern Woodmen, Bowling Green Exchange Club and Perrysburg Rotary. Additionally, the staff at Children’s Services were able to use donated funds gained throughout the year and from events like Wood County Pinwheels.

Childrens Services will once again be hosting ‘Wear Blue to Work Day’ for child abuse prevention awareness. The event features food and raffles and will take place on April 11 in the Alvin L. Perkins Atrium.

2018 Formulary ChangesEach year the formulary is updated to reflect changes. While a printed formulary listing is no longer being provided, RxEOB is a tool that can be used to check where a medication falls in the formulary and provides therapeutic alternatives that are available at a lower cost. Employees will see that the OTC medications for acid reflux are no longer covered under the Plan as free including OTC Nexium 24 Hour, Prilosec OTC Tablets 20mg, Omeprazole OTC and Prevacid OTC. However, the generic OTC versions of these medications are available as a Tier 1 medication at the $5 co-pay.The doctor must note the generic OTC on the prescription in order for these medications to be covered at the Tier 1 level. The only name brand OTC that is covered under Tier 1 is Zegerid OTC. Again the script needs to have OTC on it in order for it to be covered. Please call the help desk at PDMI 1-800-806-7859 for additional information regarding medications that are covered for the Proton Pump Inhibitor (Acid Reflux medications).
