Spotlighted in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

Are you a health professional that wouldn't mind sharing more about your story, what you do and what kind of research you are doing with the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal? The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal is starting a new segment that is a ‘meet your healthcare professional’ spotlight. They are interested in featuring doctors, nurses and others that take care of patients! This would be a way for the community to learn more about the person taking care of them, not just the professional side. Also, she is looking for medical professionals that are currently working on research projects. They want to know why medical professionals are doing the research and how it will help the community. This is a GREAT way to get all the great Covenant Health em-ployees recognized for all the great work you all are doing and will continue to do. We just need volunteers! If you are inter-ested in participating, please email Whitney Bryant at [email protected]. Make sure and include a little back-ground information on your research and why you are inter-ested in the subject.

COVENANT HEALTH ANNOUNCES AMERICAN NURSES CREDENTIALING CENTER PATHWAY TO EXCELLENCE®

DESIGNATION Covenant Health is pleased to announce it has achieved Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Cre-dentialing Center (ANCC). The Pathway to Excellence designation identifies the elements of work environments where nurses can flourish. The designa-tion substantiates the professional satisfaction of nurses at Covenant Health and identifies it as one of the best places to work. “We are thrilled to have achieved the Pathway to Excellence® designation. Our nurses have worked so hard to receive this honor, and we feel this award accurately reflects the competent, outstanding and compassionate care our nurses provide every day.” said Karen Baggerly, Chief Nursing Officer. The Pathway to Excellence designation is granted based on the confirmed presence of characteristics known as “The Pathway to Excellence Criteria.” For an organization to earn the Pathway to Excellence distinction, it must successfully undergo a thor-ough review process that documents foundational quality initiatives in creating a positive work environment — as defined by nurses and supported by research. These initiatives must be present in the facility’s practices, policies, and culture. Nurses in the organization verify the presence of the criteria in the organization through participation in a completely confidential online survey. As a Pathway to Excellence® designated organization, Covenant Health is committed to nurses, to what nurses identify as important to their practice, and to valuing nurses’ contributions in the workplace. This designation confirms to the public that nurses working at Covenant Health know their efforts are supported. The honor encourages other nurses to join their col-leagues in this desirable and nurturing environment. The Pathway to Excellence designation is perfectly suited to small and medium-sized healthcare organizations, but is attain-able by all healthcare facilities around the world.

MEDITECH Updates

• A project is in the works to stop the automatic printing of the laboratory labels. All laboratory and blood gas label printing will be done with MobiLab. A schedule has not been completed yet since there are several tasks to be done, and we must coordinate with the builders working on Northern California. Everyone should use MobiLab routinely and notify the help desk if there are issues.

• If you are trying to recall values for an intervention and are not able to recall the values, it doesn’t mean that MEDITECH is broken; it usually means MEDITECH has been updated and you will need to manually update values.

• Downtime Clinical Bridge line: If you have questions or need help during a downtime: call this number 5-2254, 0682 OR 714-704-6808, 0682.

• Also, don’t forget: Refill your downtime box. If you have questions about downtime call 5-5555.

• Physician orders: There are orders available on the floors if you physicians need them. Ask the unit secretary or charge nurse for more details.

If you need any help with MEDITECH, please call 5-5555 or email [email protected].
