ADORATION
Prelude
Call to Worship | Philippians 2:5-11, Revelation 5:12-13 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

CONFESSION
Confession of Sin | 1 Timothy 6:17-19 & prayer As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
Almighty and most merciful Father, We are thankful that your mercy is higher than the heavens, Wider than our wanderings, deeper than all our sin. Forgive our careless attitudes toward your purposes, Our refusal to relieve the suffering of others, Our envy of those who have more than we have, Our obsession with creating a life of constant pleasure, Our indifference to the treasures of heaven, Our neglect of your wise and gracious law. Helps us to change our way of life so that we may desire what is good, Love what you love, and do what you command, Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon | from 2 Corinthians 8:9 & Ephesians 2:4-9 Brothers and sisters, be assured of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
And God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

FORMATION & COMMISSION
Catechesis | Heidelberg Catechism: Q 1: Christian, what is your only hope in life and death? A: That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by his Holy Spirit he also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for him.
Congregational Prayer
Reading of the Word Luke 16:19-31 This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God!
Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heav’nly host: Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Thomas Ken, 1709 | Louis Bourgeon’s Genevan Psalter, 1551|CCLI#1095616/20146299

Meditation
Account of The Lord’s Supper | Matthew 26:20-29
Prayer for Communion and Reunion Lord Jesus Christ, on the night on which you were betrayed, you prayed that we might be one, even as you and the Father are one. Though we cannot share in the loaf in which the many are one, there is nevertheless one Body and one Spirit — one Lord, one faith, one baptism — one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. We look forward to that day when you gather us again in full communion with one another, and until then we entrust ourselves to you. We pray this day of separation and waiting will lead soon to another day of fellowship and rejoicing. And we remember that here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. For we ask it in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Sung Response May the grace of Christ our Savior And the Father’s boundless love With the Holy Spirit’s favor Rest upon us from above.
Hymns of Praise Jesus, Master, Whose I Am Take My Life
Thus may we abide in union With each other and the Lord And possess in sweet communion Joys which earth cannot afford. John Newton/CCLI#1095616/20146299

Sung Response This is my Father's world: O let me ne'er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the Ruler yet. This is my Father's world: the battle is not done; Jesus who died shall be satisfied, and earth and heav’n be one. Maltbie D. Babcock, 1901|CCLI#1095616/20146299
