Music magazines-

Front cover analysis

Page 2: Cover music analysis final

Front cover Masthead- Bold text used and is placed behind main image as the creators want the name to be remembered by placing it behind the main image it gives readers a reason to give more time into knowing what the name is.

Main image- Using direct address. Subjects is looking straight at you as it makes you feel like you have a personal relationship. Anchors the main cover line on page. Taken with a mid shot to give them an equal amount of power to the reader.

Splash- Used here to show content that is not regular. Outlines one of the feature articles in the magazine and the background colour of the splash makes the readers draw attention to it.

Cover lines-List of band names on the right side with no specific detail that readers can draw conclusions on for example quotes are used under the cover lines of what they have said. If consumers see a band they like without context they are more likely to purchase it as they will not know what to expect of it

Barcode Date and price- Located on the bottom right side out of the way of the magazine, shows that it is not important and does not provide any contextual information as it is only used to scan and buy in stores

Colour scheme-very few colours used. This is used to make the cover lines easy to read and that they can make important information stand out without making everything on the page stand out too much. For example the main image’s background is light blue at the top and black at the bottom so text can be placed and easily read.

Main cover line-links to the main image presented. It is also using a bigger size and a different font than the other cover lines to draw attention to it. A different colour is used (Bright yellow) as it will be one of the first things that the reader will see because of the custom font, size and colour.

Header- using a different colour for the second half so people remember the name. The font is smaller than the masthead as people tend to start at the top and work their way down when reading so it wouldn’t need to be big unless it was showing the name of the magazine
