Welcome! This season is all about welcoming in the new. New staff members Patricia Greenwell, Brian Kroeker, and Jenny Purslow bring a diverse range of skills to the Theatre and I am thrilled to be working with these talented people.

Older technical equipment has been replaced with newer technology that will serve us for years to come. New equipment also means we can present bigger, more sophisticated performances. Cowichan Valley audiences will appreciate seeing shows in their full glory with larger sets, impressive lighting and video effects, and bolder, clearer sound. We are excited to bring you a wider variety of shows and to push the boundaries of what is expected.

We are also launching a new and improved cowichantheatre.ca that is more user-friendly and reflects the updated Cowichan Theatre brand. Come and see what’s happening at your local performing arts theatre. I’ll save you a seat.

Kirsten Schrader Manager, CVRD Arts & Culture

STEVE PATTERSONPerhaps most recognized as host of CBC Radio’s “The Debaters”, it is as a headline stand-up comedian where Steve Patterson truly shines.  His performance at the prestigious Just For Laughs televised gala, prompted the legendary comedy icon and gala host, Steve Martin, to quip: “If I’d known he was going to be THAT good, I would have cancelled him.”  The comedy industry formally agreed with Martin, when Patterson was named Canada’s Best Male Stand-Up Comic at the Canadian Comedy Awards. An opinion universally endorsed by media across the country.  Patterson’s 90-minute one man stand-up comedy show - “This Is Not Debatable!” - tours B.C. in November.
