Hi Gang-
I’m enclosing boTh negatives & prints
have The negatives developed because
I sent a bunch of The prints to
Different people- I Think They were
The best- so please develop Them. I
Know This is kinda cruel to you people
and it will be The last time I do it. I
have plenty of more film which I will
take shortly- Okay!
The fellow in The pictures with me is
John my [[first?]] cook and [[similar looking word- first/]] mate
a 14 [[2 letters- y(ears) o(ld)?]] kid-
I received anoTher wonderful
package- cookies infact & chocolates- The
way you wrapped Them fresh as daisys
more tomorrow-
Love BoB
[[Page 1- Letter 2 ]] Sept 24
Hey Gang,
Boy it’s a fine Thing when a family
as neat and wonderful as mine has to
start apologizing for not writing such
interesting or amusing mail- meaning you
Eth- Ive told you so many times that
your mail is always swell and I always
get a kick out of it. As I mentioned
yesterday The packages are now coming
in and are in truly amazingly good
condition- of course They should be
what with each chocolate wrapped
by itself but it paid ‘cause oTher
fellows have received chocolates That
have grown stale & brown in [[strikethrough]] cl [[/strikethrough]] color.
So don’t worry about The mail- I did
finally receive boTh money orders, so every-
Thing is oke.
Of course Mr Formans letter was
really received with open arms, its
not That I was worried about a job
[[Page 2]]
or anything even close to That but
he does seem sincere and it is kinda
nice to have something to fall back on.
I’ll reply quite soon using Eths letter as
prompted.
You can give The French dough
to [[Rosenna?]] unless you want it- I don’t- Im
enclosing two Belgian notes- both The
new & The old for her. If you people
want some say so oke (sic)?
To-day is a [[2 words]] really
chilly but we are due to get 8 man
tents which will be fine.
I received my [[1 word]] ballot and
decided on [[straight?]] A.L.P- week it is
The same as The Dem. party and They
need some encouragement. You know if
They took a poll of my gang or [[strikethrough]] outif [[/strikethrough]]
outfit Roosevelt would win in a
walk.
About Frankie- tell Eth to do what-
ever she Thinks best- I can’t really
[[Page 3]]
advise from here- Frank is a swell
kid and Eth and she got along- in fact
I kinda wish Eth would [[see?]] here
and give me her reactions, can’t get any
from Frank’s letters. [[Dot?]] has joined
The W.A.V.E.S. in fact she too questioned
if she should see Eth before going to camp,
This was just recently, I guess I’ll
thumb down This question ‘cause I don’t
think you people are too fond of her-
Oh Well- The Hell with it- I’m having
too much fun to bother [[underline]] too [[/underline]] much with
it.
I received a swell letter from Bill and
wrote him of Paris, St. Lo, [[one word- European place name]] et al.
I write & receive a letter about every 5
days very satisfactory-
Love Bob

Dear MoTh,
The fellows just came back from High
Services in The nearby town- I didn’t
attend. Those services That were held
in [[Crowden?]] still remain in my mem-
ory- but They said That some of The
stories That were told to Them were
heartbreaking. In any case today I
really saw democracy at one of its
highest peaks. All of my permanent
KPs are Jewish and naturally wanted
to go to Services so a few of The
boys volunteered to take Their
places. We had a crew of Three Italians,
1 Catholic and one Protestant; The rankings
were two [[1 word/ fraction]] two [[1 word/fraction]] and one P.F.C.
and They are to be on for two more
meals. I don’t know how many guys
also volunteered but There must have
been at least a dozen.
To-day at long last was clear.
it has been pretty miserable for
[[Page 3]]
The past 6 days- rained everyday. The
place looks like a South Pacific Island.
The roads are just mud piles, but The
only ones to enjoy it are The Ducks. In
fact one of The puddles is deep enough
for Them to swim in, a rare treat
which They seldom have had since
joining our outfit.
As yet I have not gotten around
to answering Mr Formans letter, it is not
That I have been too busy or any-
Thing like That but it is going to take
a little time and patience and I have-
nt been in That mood for The past
few days.
[[strikethrough]] In [[/strikethrough]] The news for some reason
has been [[one word]] of late- They
seem to be stalling- and The Philippine
situation seems to be [[one word stinko?]]- you can’t
help waiting for a break in The news.
As far as just plain health
[[Page 4]]
goes I feel wonderful-never better.
Wish I could write more but
‘las no go.
Love
Bob.

[[The?]] mail to-day and little news from me. I
received a letter from Sg Goldstein- Eth will remember him.
he just graduated and is now a 2nd Lt- [[1 word]] a [[liberator?]]
Joe is on his way here or is here and his most
[[two words]].
Saw B.Grable in ‘Pin Up Girl’ pretty punk stuff
and Miss G certainly looked like Mrs G- all of us
were disappointed. The musical I remember of recent
vintage is ‘Coma Girl’ I remember the dancing as
being brilliant.
I knew Ida would invite you [[today?]] at
her menage-for [[two words]]- no return visits- why is
is that I don’t like her? This about Larry Though
[[one word]] The plane he flies quite often and They are doing
a very wonderful job.
Bye for awhile-
Love BoB

Dear Moth-
Again just a note- met
Few of our Lts to-day both
seemingly swell guys. One
was the C.O and the other
while conducting class kept
referring to him as the [[1 word Fuhrer?]]
and how they lived on
Snob Hill- “ The higher paid
help” nice sense of humor
and o.k.
There is an ugly rumor
of a parade coming up
This Sat.- Golly we haven’t
marched in ages and then
not very much- Oh Well!
we’re almost citizens-
[[Page 2]]
[[Spect?]] another fine day- although
we are in terrible shape-
The calesthetics (?) (sic) proved that
this morn- boy we tire
easily.
“Kiss & tell” was on to-night
but in the middle of the
film the machine went flooey-
sooo [[little horizontal pen scratch in replacement of ellipses]]
I am sending another
money order along- put
it to the Bank account
when I get home I may
bring the bonds up to an
even $ 1500 but meanwhile
put all to the bank—
[[Page 3]]
That’s it [[kids?]]—
