CRAFTS AND PRODUCERS OF

MONCHIQUE

Explore the narrow cobbled streets of Monchique along tiled houses and colourful facades and get to know the local crafts of chair making and medronho or visit some of the producers close by with your car.

1. Start at the Medrohno and Honey shop. Walk to the sitting statue overlooking the park and bear left up the narrow stair case past the local ceramist.

2. Past the church is the British owned ‘Chocolate shop’ aka ‘inofficial tourist office’ who also have great jewellery.

3. Bear right where round the corner and reach the town’s view point overlooking the narrow alleys.

4. Explore the alleys and head down the main stairs towards square. Drop into Ar De Cor and follow the road uphill past the Tourist office and viewpoint.

5. On your way back into town, drop by Maria Rosa’s little shop to see the handmade embroidery.

Tip!Take a detour to the convent and/or treat yourself to a ‘galau’ a white coffee in Ochala or one of the other cafes in the main square.
