Parish Share Alert

If you made a Donation to Parish Share during the month of March or April and made a ‘pledge’ or a ‘one time payment’, OSV apologizes that your donation was incorrectly reported back to you as ‘no payment’ and that you had a ‘payment due’ or your ‘payment due’ was an incorrect amount! OSV would like you to know they are working to resolve the problem and will correctly update you. You should receive a revised statement this week from OSV. The Parish Office would like you to know, everyone’s donation, weather a pledge or a payment in full, has been recorded correctly into our database, which is completely separate from the work OSV performs for us.

Volunteers Sought Our ability to resume Sunday public Masses hinges on the ability to clean and sanitize our churches after every service. WE need your help! Please call our parish offices if you are interested in volunteering. Volunteers will be trained and fully equipped to help.

Sunday Public Mass on Hold We regret that we are not in a position to reopen our churches for public Mass this weekend. However, while we continue to work toward that end, we are pleased to announce that our priests and deacon will distribute communion at 10:00 am on Sunday from our Churches' main entrances. We will continue this practice until we are ready to resume public Sunday Mass.

We ask that you wear a mask and observe safe social distancing practices. The obligation to attend Sunday Mass has been lifted. We will continue to offer weekend Mass online.

This past week was notable in that we resumed public weekday Masses at our churches, along with communion distribution for those unable to attend, according to the following schedule: •St. Gregory - 8:00 am Mass / Communion Distribution - 9:00 am •St. Ferdinand - 8:30 am Mass / Communion Distribution - 9:30 am •Holy Redeemer - 9:00 am Mass / Communion Distribution - 10:00 am

Also, starting today, St. Ferdinand will offer a public Mass on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Rosary garden, weather permitting. The alternate location will be in the church. Currently, each church is permitted to host 25 people, including the celebrant, at each weekday Mass. We will welcome increased attendance as the number of permitted participants grows to 25 percent of building capacity on Monday, June 8.

Please Join Us ONLINE for Mass at St. Gregory

In anticipation of returning to Sunday corporate worship, we will begin recording Sunday Mass at St. Gregory Parish only starting this Saturday. Having a set location will help limit travel and setup time, and online worshipers will have the opportunity to see each priest and deacon as he rotates to St. Gregory's on the celebrant schedule.

Thinking about becoming Catholic? Have a friend or family member who is interested in becoming Catholic? Please join us for RCIA!

RCIA is a process which is designed to educate in the Catholic faith and prepare adults to receive the Sacraments. Through this journey there will be members of our parish praying for you, attending sessions with you, and sharing their own stories of their Catholic experience. Our team is dedicated, knowledgeable, and supportive and we would love to walk beside you as you explore the Catholic faith. Sessions begin on September 15 and we meet every Tuesday. If you have any questions, or would like to register, please contact Kathy at 724-776-1357 or email [email protected].

Appalachia Group Gets Crafty! Our grouping's Appalachia Mission team recently collected cards, handmade pictures and crafts to deliver to area hospices, hospitals, nursing homes, personal care homes and elderly shut-ins. The group's annual home repair mission trip may be on hold for now, but its members remain committed to using their hands to do God's work.

READINGS FOR THE WEEK

CALLED TO BE LIKE GOD Why does God love us so much? And why are we able to love others? The answer to these questions is found in the meaning of today's feast. Trinity Sunday celebrates not so much an idea of three-in-one as the relationship of the Persons of the Trinity with each other and with us. The idea is that the Father expressed himself as the Word. Since it was a perfect expression, the Word is his Son and equal to the Father. The love of Father and Son is expressed as the Holy Spirit. Being a perfect love, it too is equal to Father and Son. So even the idea of the Trinity is based on love. But God's love was so great, God went even further. God created us to be loved by God. In the second reading Paul blesses the Corinthians with the "love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit." The book of Genesis (3:18) says that it was not good for man to be alone. So God created woman, and through man and woman all humanity, are able to love each other. Though human love is not perfect, the love of man and woman can produce another person, a child. The three Persons of the Trinity share one life in God. But through baptism, we also share in God's life. Just as parents love to see how their children look like them, so God loves to see the divine in us. The first reading reminds us of God's closeness to humanity. Moses can speak to God and God responds by granting his request. The Gospel tells how much God loves the world, that God's own Son was sent to die for us. But we sometimes forget that God's love comes first. We think that the more loving we are, the more God will love us. But love comes from God (1 John 4:7-11), so when we love someone it doesn't make God love us more; we love because God loves us first. Our decision to love is a response to God's love, and our ability to love is itself a gift from God. The meaning of life, the universe, and everything is Love, the love of the Trinity for each other and for us. The question now is, how well do we use that gift of God's love by loving each other? Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.

The Enduring Call to Love Bishop David Zubik of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh released a statement yesterday on the sin of racism and the need for racial healing. He encourages us to join in this prayer. Wake Me Up, Lord Wake me up Lord so that the evil of racism finds no home within me. Keep watch over my heart Lord and remove from me any barriers to your grace. Fill my spirit Lord so that I may give services of justice and peace. Clear my mind Lord and use it for your glory. And finally, remind me Lord that you said, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God.” Amen.

GOD IS MERCIFUL AND GRACIOUS

At moments in our lives we may wonder how we know who God is or what God is like. Today’s readings help us to feel secure in placing our faith in God and being assured of God’s unfailing love. When Moses went up the mountain as the Lord had commanded him, God powerfully described himself, “The Lord, the Lord, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity.” Jesus shows us the depths of this life of God. He came not to condemn the world but to save it. As people in relationship with God, we often fail. We walk away from God’s ways, fall into sinfulness, and then, with the Lord’s grace, come to our senses and return. God’s words to Moses and the very life of Jesus show us that when we do so, we can still rely on God’s mercy and kindness, because love is God’s very nature.
