The purpose of this open-book test is to determine that the operator-candidate is able to correctly use basic safe rigging practices as they apply to crane operations. Although this test is open-book, operator-candidates may not work together to answer questions, share answers between themselves, or obtain outside help from anyone other than the instructor.

To pass this test, the operator-candidate must correctly answer 12 of the 16 questions. Of the 16 questions, there are 4 critical questions that are marked with asterisks (*). The operator-candidate must correctly answer all four of these critical questions.

Part 3 - Load Charts

The following 38 questions are based on the Grove RT 990 crane load charts supplied as part of the study materials. The purpose of this open-book test is to determine that the operator-candidate is able to correctly use load charts to determine safe working loads and safe crane working configurations. Although this test is open-book, operator-candidates may not work together to answer questions, share answers between themselves, or obtain outside help from anyone other than the instructor.

To pass this test, the operator-candidate must correctly answer 29 of the 38 questions. Of the 38 questions, there are 16 critical questions that are marked with asterisks (*). The operator-candidate must correctly answer all 16 of these critical questions.

For this test, use 200 pounds for the weight of slings. Show your calculations in the space provided.
