NOMINATIONS OF CANDIDATES TO SERVE AS FULL-TIME MEMBERS OF THENATIONAL ENERGY REGULATOR OF SOUTH AFRICA - NERSA
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) is a regulatory authorityestablished as a juristic person in terms of section 3 of the National Energy RegulatorAct 40 of 2004 (the Act). NERSA's mandate is to regulate the electricity, piped-gas andpetroleum pipelines industries in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act 4 of 2006,' theGas Act 48 of 2001 and the Petroleum Pipelines Act 60 of 2003.
In terms of section 5(1) of the Act, NERSA consists of four full-time and five part-timemembers appointed by the Minister of Minerals and Energy. A part-time member of theEnergy Regulator holds office for a period of four years, while a full-time member holdsoffice for a period of five years.
Nominations are invited for full-time members who will commence their term on April 1,2011.
The candidates must be suitably qualified in either legal, technical, business, economic,and/or have extensive experience relevant to the electricity, piped-gas and petroleumpipelines industries. Candidates nominated must strictly be South African citizens orthe holders of a permit as permanent residents in the Republic who are not disqualifiedin terms of section 6 of the Act.
