By experimenting with different picture frames and photo edges,
you can turn ordinary photos into artistic portraits. You'll be
surprised how easy it is to give your plain pictures a whole
new life. Turning an average photo into a portrait is easy just
by adding a matte, torn edge, or a picture frame. Using Paint
Shop Photo Album you can add a beautiful finishing touch to
your photos, taking them from ordinary to extraordinary!

� Jasc® Paint Shop™ Photo Album™

Open Your Image
1. Choose Start > Programs > Jasc Software > Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album
or double click the Photo Album Icon on your desktop.
2. In this tutorial we're going to use a photo of the
family out at the farm. You can follow along using
your favorite digital photo.
3. Use the Browse tab on the left to locate the photo you want to use.
4. Double click the photo you want to use to open it in the Image View window

5. Click the Crop button on the toolbar to
open the crop window on top of your photo.
6. Click inside the Crop window and drag it into
place, then drag the sides of the Crop window
to adjust the desired crop area.
7. Click OK to crop your photo.

Add a Photo Edge
8. Choose Effects > Add Photo Edge
from the menu at the top.
9. Once the Add Photo Edge
dialog is opened, you can
use the scroll bar on the right
to view all the photo edges.
We used Edge Brush 01 for
this example. You can use the
edge you like best. Click the
edge you'd like to use, and
you'll see a preview of how
your photo will look with the
edge applied.
10. Mark Around the Image to place the photo
edge around the edges of your photo. Marking
Over the Image will place the edge on top of
your photo and possibly cut off some of
your subject.
11. Click OK to apply the photo edge.

Add a Picture Frame
12. Choose Effects > Add Picture Frame
from the menu at the top to open the
Add Picture Frame dialog.
13. Use the scroll bar to view all
the picture frames. We used
the Silver 03 frame, but you
can use any frame you like.
Click the frame you'd like to
use and you'll see a preview
of how your photo will
look with the frame.
14. Mark the Around the Image option
to place the frame around the edges
of the photos, retaining the entire
original photo and enlarging the image.
15. Click OK to apply the picture frame.

Save the New Image
16. Click the down-arrow on the Save button
and choose Save Image As to open the
Save Image dialog.
17. Select the folder where you want to save
your photo and type a new name in the
File name field.
18. Click Save to save the new, framed photo.
Now you're ready to use your photo however you'd
like — print it, use it as part of a scrapbook page, in
a greeting card, or e-mail it friends and family. With
Paint Shop Photo Album, your sharing possibilities
are endless.
