Hardware and Its Selection: This topic focuses on hardware used on an aircraft. The selection principle for hardware is very critical during the early design stages of an aircraft as it is used in large quantities and often used on critical parts of an aircraft. Selection of inappropriate hardware can often cause delay in production and induce higher procurement costs due to limited availability, challenging maintenance and assembly processes.

Hole Preparation and Cold Hole Expansion: This topic addresses hole preparation process during aircraft manufacturing. Hole preparation is a critical

process during the manufacturing and assembly of an airplane. Improper hole preparation can damage the

panels and cause difficulty in assembling fasteners. Improper installation of fasteners requires their

removal, which often creates oversize holes. This is a costly and time consuming practice that can impact

the overall aircraft assembly process. This course will help you understand the fundamentals.

Engineering Order & Supersession List: This topic addresses Engineering Order (EO) / Supersession List (SL). The EO or SL is a very important

document for aircraft OEMs. Standard Department can create an SL to document all the parts that have

been superseded or replaced by new parts even if the old parts are already called out in engineering

drawings. The procurement department will refer to the SL before purchasing to avoid buying obsolete

parts. An EO is issued to the manufacturing floor so the mechanics can use recommended parts that are

not called out in the engineering drawings. These documents will save time and cost associated with

changing engineering drawings.
