i like comic because of its simplicity and easyness.
with inkscape it is so easy to create state-of-the-art comics,
that it is fun writing this. and the best thing - it's free.
like imagination and creativity.
i am not tutoring so don't get me wrong with this. i just want
to point out how i do comics with inkscape and the following is
more like the question how you do than a step by step tutorial.
i am inviting you to share your experience and skills
using inkscape for comics.
sharing is fun so i attached the free-to-use character - svg
to the original post of this publication at inkscapeforum.com!
creating from scratch
COMICS with INKSCAPE
creating from scratch
comic - charactersi figured out, creating from scratch can be as simple as
breathing while being focused on what to achive. main points
for me are simple drawn, funny looking and easy to
manipulate characters for use in classic comic - styles like
comic - strips and 2d - animation using blender.
i like to sketch with pen and paper although it is not necessary
because you can do anything - from sketch to final - in inkscape.
one thing i really recommend is to use a graphic board.
so i did a sketch for the following character, scanned and
imported it in inkscape as a jpeg. maybe sketching something
cool is the difficult part but the more you're enjoying the
merrier it gets. feel free to play around without
valuing every mistake being aware that it is necessary making
them and enjoy doing because thats already the whole fun..
creating from scratch
comic - charactersi am "inking" the sketch using bezier mode. i like simpleness,
so i am trying to use just a small number of knots easy to
manipulate in animation.
creating from scratch

perspective of the character, then colouring it.
creating from scratch
comic - charactersadding the second pair of legs by copying and pasting characters
body twice (Light/Shadow, first/last leg) and deleting all knots
except leg - knots, then scaling and moving to the right position,
leveling to base object layer behind character's body.

finally adding shadows with copying and pasting characters body,
deleting unnecessary knots, adding necessary new ones and
leveling the colored shadow on semi - layer above main body.
