As a co-founder and Director of Vanguard Bschool, I am glad that you have chosen to apply to Vanguard Bschool. Vanguard was set up by a group of IIM Alumni who have the experience of working with best of corporates. Our mission is to create frontline managers for the best of corporates. Based on extensive research with practicing managers across more than 50 Corporates, we have created an innovative curriculum framework. Called ASK approach, the focus is on instilling the right Attitude, building Skills and practical Knowledge. The course design is intensive with focus on assignments, case studies and exams that focus on framework based problem solving. Practicing managers are invited to campus on a regular basis to share industry knowledge and career advice. All students are assigned Internships to get real business exposure.

Along with the curriculum we have a vibrant Extracurricular environment. A wide range of clubs for Finance, Marketing, HR etc. Encourage students to actively pursue skill development and Industry knowledge. Not surprisingly VBS students consistently win prizes at Inter B school competitions across Bangalore. Most importantly Vanguard cares for the individual student. Each student is assigned an internal mentor in the first year to carefully evaluate the student’s strengths, weaknesses and to help the student create a personal improvement plan. As a consequence of these efforts, it comes as no surprise that VBS students have secured 100% placements for three years in a row with attractive packages. Education is about teachers. At VBS we select our faculty based on three simple parameters. One, They should be from the best Bschools themselves, so that they can share the learning and culture of the IIMs and top Bschools. Our methodology

Having the right attitude is perhaps the most critical ingredient in management. At Vanguard the focus is on aspects like Pro-activeness, Goal setting, Time management and creation of positive habits. This is done through our mentorship program, various clubs and activities as well as through courses like personal transformation.

SkIllS

At VBS we have identified certain core skills that are critically important to a frontline manager. These skills include Communication skills, Team skills, Technology skills, Quantitative and Analytical skills. The basics of these skills are imparted in the 1st year through core courses like WoC, IT, QM etc. More importantly these skills are learned by application: Industry projects, Event organizations, Intra and Inter B school Contests teach application of knowledge to solve real life problems

kNOwleDge

Management Knowledge involves a theoretical foundation and its application to understanding and solving business problems. The courses give the basic foundation and the case studies and examples illustrate the application. Here, VBS faculty have worked in some of India’s best corporates and thus have the industry exposure to explain the practical application of the subjects. The result is after practical application of the subjects the result is a vigorous program of 30 subjects across 6 trisemsters updated every year.

After extensive consultation with best managers across corporates, Vanguard Business School has designed a unique curriculum and teaching methodology to create frontline managers: the ASK approach.

Our Curriculum

At Vanguard, Faculty members, mentors and Corporate partners are encouraged to think of Vanguard students as potential junior colleagues and mentees rather than as students. The focus is on pushing them to explore, read, thin ask for data, ideate, analyze and figure out problems and solutions to these problems on their own.

Students will undergo a rigorous grounding in core subjects across all key areas of management. In order to graduate the PGPM program students will have to successfully clear a total of 33 credits. The first three trimesters will span 15 compulsory courses. The next three trimesters will span 3 compulsory courses along with 10 elective courses that the students will choose at the end of the third trimester.

The summer internship project report, The Industry sector and functional specialization reports are also counted as full credit courses.

Why our curriculuM WorksFirstly, curriculum design is process that involves the Faculty and the Academic council led by the dean. The curriculum is focused on practical application and real life problem solving. The teaching methodology includes examples, case studies and industry projects. We also follow a continuous evaluation process involving assignments, case study discussions, presentations, project reports and examinations. Thus a student should not only learn the subject, he must apply it, work with project mates and present effective solutions to cases to succeed in our program.

The proof of the pudding is of course in the eating. Corporate partners who have recruited from us have praised our students, especially their ability to learn fast, work effectively with teams and their approach to problems: a strong reason why they recruit again and again from VBS.

In the first year, students are assigned to our full time faculty for mentorship. Students meet mentors regularly on a one to one basis. These meetings have clear objectives.

External mentors are practicing managers who wish to share their expertise and learning’s with students. Each student is assigned an external mentor in the 2nd year. The focus of external mentor will be Industry Insights and career planning. For example

A student can seek help from a mentor to understand the business model, growth drivers and challenges for any industry say healthcare or financial services.

Also, a student can seek to understand various management roles in a particular industry and the skill sets required to get hired and to grow in that industry.

Eg: A student interested in say Telecom sector can seek guidance on the sales and marketing roles available in Telecom, the nature of the role and the skills required. This can help the student prepare for the recruitment processes.

Mentor will understand student’s background, strengths and weaknesses and aspirations while the student will understand the mentor’s profile and background.step 1

Mentor will guide the student to set long term and short term goals in terms of personal improvement and career planning. step 2

wrItINg ABIlIty teStStudents have to write two short essays (400 words each) on two topics, one general and one business related. The student is expected to use simple but clear language to express his/her points. Marks will be allocated for Knowledge, Clarity of thought and logic.

elIgIBIlIty10 + 2 + 3 years of studyGraduation from any UGC recognized university with a min of 40% marksStudents in their final year who are in their final year may also apply. Such students should be completing all graduation requirements (Classes, Exams etc) by 30th June 2016. Admission is conditional and such students will have to submit Provisional Degree & Final Marks sheet by 31st Dec 2016.

INtervIewInterviews are conducted as per a pre decided schedule at our Bangalore Campus. Once you have applied and filled out, our admissions team arranges a campus visit and Interview for you.

While It is desirable to conduct the Interview at our Bangalore campus, we understand that some students may face difficulty reaching Bangalore. Hence we will also arrange Interviews at cities like Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mysore etc. Again our admissions team will guide you on the schedule.

final placeMent report: Batch 2013-15 100% PlAceMeNtS! NOt ONce. NOt twIce. But thrIce!Once could be a fluke, twice could be a coincidence, but Thrice – that suggests a pattern. A pattern that Vanguard Business School, Bangalore feels a great sense of pride about. We feel great satisfaction in disclosing the final placement report for the year 2015. The Third Placements season at VBS has been phenomenal as VBS continues to be among the first business schools in Bangalore to complete 100% placements. It gives us great pleasure to note that the stellar work of the placement team and the effectiveness of placement training process at Vanguard have played an eminent part in capping off 100% placements this year with almost a month’s time prior to the usual culmination of placement season.

The verdict on Vanguard’s “Frontline Managers” has been overwhelming – this year VBS witnessed a surge in new recruiters. A total of 59 students were in pursuit of jobs through the placement cell. This diverse talent pool assisted in enticing a whole new lot of recruiters this year. The fact that almost all recruiters from the past placement cycles have been a part of this year’s placement cycle again illustrates the confidence recruiters have in Vanguard students and the steadily increasing impressiveness of the profiles of successive batches at Vanguard. Vanguard has been able to resist market conditions for the past 3 years and consistently bring the best opportunities for its students. We would like to thank all our recruiters for helping us again achieve this milestone.

Prominent companies highest PackageThis year, distinguished companies like Saint Gobain (Fortune 500 Company), Berger Paints (Second largest Paint manufacturer in India) and so on, visited our campus and offered jobs that are usually offered only to students of Tier-1 colleges

This placement cycle our highest package breached the 7 Lakh milestone. Our highest package came from Photon Infotech for a project manager role - reminder to us that in just three years we have traversed the journey from being an unknown entity to one that the best of recruiters have faith in. CRISIL, HSBC, Mu Sigma, Saint Gobain.We witnessed all the big name recruiters from the previous year returning to Campus like Airtel, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company, Photon Infotech, Info Edge, YLG Salons & Spas, Jaro Education and ICICI SecuritiesThis year’s fresh addition to our recruiter pool include some of the largest players Berger Paints, Saint Gobain, Toyota Financial Services, Prop Tiger, Pepperfry, Wildcraft, etc.

The most breath-taking statistic is that on every measurable parameter, placements 2015 surpassed placements 2014 just as our last cycle trumped 2013 cycle on all parameters.
