For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat….Jesus The Southwest Pantry was 1 of 100 nationwide pantries chosen to participate in a FRESH produce summer distribution program. Approximately 3,500 lbs. of pro- duce was given during the months of June, July and August. Annually, approximately 170,000 lbs. of food is served to over 500 families per month by a pool of 25 volunteers from 10 am—2 pm each Monday and Thursday! If you wish to volunteer to serve at the pantry, you may contact Wayne Blake or the office. Another way to participate is financial donations. Canned goods that cost $5 in the store is sold to the Pantry for $1. During the summer, our 1st grade class studied the Mis- sionary Journeys of Paul as he established churches and revisited them. At the conclusion of the quarter, they read the letters to the Seven Churches recorded in Revelation where John listed their good and the not so good qualities. The class then completed Report Cards for Southwest church based on their experience. You can see her grades in the picture. September’s Heart to Home Banquet paired 113 Heart Sisters with 58 Heart Moms to meet in 11 Heart Homes for the 2015-2016 year. We are excited about the opportunity to celebrate the good things God is doing among us. Though this newsletter cannot keep us fully aware of the hundreds of things done to glorify God through this church, we believe it will inspire, encourage, and prompt praise and thanksgiving to our God by expanding our vision of what God is al- ready doing – and what God can yet do through us. This newsletter is called ENGAGE because it highlights news about our mission: “We create opportunities for people to engage life with God.” This is what we are called to do – personally, in groups and ministries, and through our entire Southwest family. We long for people to discover life with God through Jesus’ life in us. So we challenge every person, every group, and every minis- try to follow a threefold rhythm life: Worship God, Care for each other, and Bless the World. The news you read in this newsletter are examples of what occurs when we live this life together – for the sake of the world and for the glory of God.
