CREATIONGenesis 1:1-2
In a broad sense, I would like to hear you reconcile
creationism and the scientific evidence out there concerning
such things as the Cro-Magnon man, and other
“beings” that existed millions of years ago.
What was God’s “real” time table in creating the heavens and the
earth, and all the creatures that have ever
lived here?
1) Faith and Science are not enemies.
The problem is to get [people] to reject irrational and supernatural
explanations of the world, the demons that exist only in their
imaginations, and to accept a social and intellectual apparatus, Science,
as the only begetter of truth.Richard Lewontin
And He said to him, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD
YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL
YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.”
Matthew 22:37
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,
But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
Proverbs 25:2
2) It is interpretation and not facts that divide Creationists and Evolutionists.
Our willingness to accept scientific claims that are
against common sense is the key to understanding the real struggle between science and
the supernatural.
We take the side off science in spite of the patent absurdity of some of its
constructs, in spite of its failure to fulfill many of its extravagant promises of
health and life, in spite of the tolerance of the scientific community for unsubstantiated just-so stories,
because we have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism.
Moreover, that materialism is an
absolute, for we cannot allow a
Divine Foot in the door.Richard Lewontin
I will not accept that [creation] philosophically, because I do not
want to believe in God. Therefore, I choose to believe
that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous
generation arising to evolution.George Wald
3) Creation and Evolution present us with a choice we cannot escape.
Option 1: Evolution
On
The Origin of Speciesby Means of Natural Selection,
or
The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life
by Charles Darwin
Option 1: Evolution
A) That everything came out of
nothing. B) That all species of life share a common ancestor.
Option 1: Evolution
C) That man determines truth.
Personally, however, I couldn’t understand how the Darwinism I
was taught left any meaningful role for God…to me that automatically ruled out a supernatural deity who was pulling the strings behind the
scene.Lee Strobel
Option 2: Creation A) That God is.
1.He is. 2.He is one. 3.He is distinct from the matter He created.
Option 2: Creation B) That He created the universe. C) That He created it “in the beginning.”
