Creative Critical reflection (CCR)

SANIA TARIQ

1) How does your product use and challenge conventions and how does it represents social groups and issues?

Product thats reflecting my project is based on a person who is carefree, doesnt care what others think of himself, hes happy the way he is living his life but problems are there in everyone's life. Jordan is the main character in this movie and this movie will show how easily Jordan go through big problems which we make a big burden on our self. This movie named Imbecile which means a stupid person. In this movie Jordan will do stupid things and even make stupid decisions in life as you have seen in the movie opening after reaching outside of his home he should have went to his wife and wish her Happy Anniversary but he chooses to go to his office. But Jordan will never regret on what he did. He is a kind of person who go with a flow.

The movie I watched to get an idea of this kind of story are Wakeup sid ( Bollywood movie) and Happy-go Lucky(British movie). I used bright and happy colors in the movie because this movie is made to make your mood changes from downhearted to cheerful.

Both the characters are wearing blue color costume because blue says you are sensitive to the needs of others and caring with your close circle of friends. While you are friendly and sociable, you prefer the company of your own close group of friends. This color is one of trust, honesty and loyalty. It reduces stress, creating a sense of calmness and relaxation.

I use the conventions I didnt challenge it as these types of movies are already made.

My cast wearing blue color.

Saman Tariq and Adeel Ali

But I challenge the convention by mostly girls are seems to be all jolly and happy. Here I used a muscular figure.

Happy_go_lucky and Imbecile

My product represents social issues as I showed a relationship of wife and husband that mostly husband give less importance to their wives and work is more important for them. The truth is that men don't complain as much as women do and youll see that in this movie.

In real life people do faced these type of situations where they stuck between their family and work both are so important. This movie basically tells you how to manage your time and prioritize tasks and only then you can be successful in your life.

2) How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

My product with engage around 15+ audiences both teenager and adult people because the real problem start when you turn 16 and you are all like growing up is terrible. This is the movie which literally motivates you to fight with the problem of life in a very easy and joyful way. Life is so easy its us who makes it complicated and this movie also shows that bad people will reward bad in the end and good people will face a lot of difficulties but they are the one who wins everyones heart. The unique selling point of my product is people want something to cheer them in 2 hours movie because there are already a lot of troubles why theyll pay an amount of money to see other people worries. So this movie will totally change

The concept of Life. All the directors says that there movie is different from other movies I wont say that I am saying after watching this movie youll be much stronger to clean up the mess of your life.Once the movie in compiled and finalized I will be distributing through independent movie studios produce smaller films, which typically have limited budgets and may appeal to more specific audiences. I will not want Big Six to distribute it because there level is for professionals. I know that any independent film company will distribute my movie because the story and concept is what people are looking for.

I want Lions Gate Entertainment to distribute my product as it established in 1997, is an independent movie and television distributor. The studio has distributed a number of notable films including "Dogma," "American Psycho,? "Secretary," "The Cooler," "Hard Candy," and "Girl With the Pearl Earring.? Frank Giustra founded this North American company. The studio's president is Steve Beeks, and Jon Feltheimer serves as the studio's co-chairman and CEO. The company's main office is located in Santa Monica, California.

If God forbid they rejected my movie so Ill exhibit it on social networking websites i.e (Facebook, YouTube)and make it viral that people will atleast appreciate my work.

3) How did your production skills develop throughout the project?

When I started on this project it was very over whelming and confusing because it was something new for me although since my childhood I love making videos and edit them. This project made me learn and discover a lot. Not about the particular genre but also how and what things must be done to get in order to make a movie. It is something I always had interest but never knew it includes of certain rules and regulations too.

Working over and over again on every tiny detail to make it a little bit more better and not being able to ignore it, is what I had to go through. Edited my movie again and again for a perfect final submission.Practical skill I develop is the shooting, recording and interacting with people. Furthermore learning something beyond what is already done by the directors is developed in mind. Reading others point of view and opinion really help in expanding my thinking.

My personal favorite director Christopher Nolan.

Christopher Nolan Sania Tariq

His movies are just amazing. I read a lot about how Christopher Nolan make blockbuster movies.

http://filmschoolrejects.com/features/6-filmmaking-tips-from-christopher-nolan.php

To make this movie opening I watched a lot of movies for example Into the storm, Interstellar, Mission impossible ghost protocol, Inception, The dark knight rises and other Bollywood movies too. Whenever I watched a movie to see its opening I end up watching the complete movie.Doing this project really give me confidence because I done everything by myself from getting an idea ,storyboard, making camera angles , editing and costume of actors and so on. Finding a perfect location is very difficult like you have something in your head and the outcome in camera wasnt the same. It was hard but I did it and I got to know why it take a lot of time to shoot the complete movie.

I found editing the hardest part because now its time to gather all the videos you make a final piece and if one thing goes wrong ruin your whole video. For me, film editingis the art, technique, and practice of assembling shots into a coherent sequence. The job of an editorisn't simply to mechanically put pieces of afilmtogether, cut offfilmslates, oredit dialogue scenes. After working on this project I think now I am even better in movie editing than I was. Its like when you are editing a video you hate doing it but when you are finally done then you cant believe that this is what you have done the feeling is just priceless. So its hate and love thing for editing. My production skills developed extraordinarily it give me a chance to look media industry even closer and the way I used to watch movie is not the same now. Now I focus more on camera angles and how that shot have been taken, the lighting low key and high key and why they are used so my whole concept have changed.

The funny part I used to hate and dont like horror movies at all they are damn scary to watch but now after knowing how the films are make I am not scared to watch horror movies at all.

I believe horror movies are more fun to shoot :D

For this project, I bought new camera Canon1200d and I also learn how to make good videos from it. I have to analysis movies and analyzing is very different than merely watching. Watching a movie is something fun you do with friends while sharing a bucket of popcorn. In the other hand, analyzing a movie means hard work. It may take twice the time as you rewind and refine your attention to detail. This will provide a more deep evaluation of the language of filmmaking. You should pay attention to theme, structure, shot sizes... Everything.

Watching movies just isn't enough for me I want to get my hands on creating them myself. It's a tough industry and it can take years to break into, but the feeling of seeing your work on the big screen can't be matched. If I am ready and willing to put in the time, have creative vision and an impressive ability to make something out of nothing, I think I am in the right place. Choosing Alevel media studies is my first step towards it.

4) How did you integrate technologies(hardware ,software and online) in this project?

Technology Integrationis the use of technology tools. By using different hardwares , softwares I have learnt doing things Differently and not just doing different things. Internet is one of the thing that is used the most in this entire project. Due to the presence of internet I was able to do all the related research and evaluate relevant information. Internet made my work so easier by knowing all about filmmaking by sitting at one place and read about different experiences of great directors.

The internet provides a vast library of knowledge.I literally have the world at my fingertips. Any topic can be researched at any time, day or night. Internet also makes it interesting by offering short videos that people like me who are more like a visual learner watch and interact with rather than learning the textbook content and going through magazines.

Other than internet I have learnt and used the system of blogging which I never knew what it is and how it works?. I make my blog from blogspot.com using my Gmail account. I discovered how to use it with the help of my siblings and Sir Khurrum Rizvi (my teacher). I started to post my assignments on it and its actually feels so good knowing you have your own website.

For me blogging is something really helpful for all students it build up the confidence level because they have authentic audience and feel pride in their work students want their blogs to look good in both terms of presentation and content. Blogs allow text, multimedia, widgets, audio and images all items that digital natives want to use

What I feel it gives studentsa chanceto showresponsibilityand trustworthiness and engenders independence. It gives me the opportunity to learn from the comments and advice of others as well, which has helped me refine my own ideas. The softwares which I used for this project are Windows Movie Maker, Videopad and Abode After Affects. I know how to use movie maker because I made a lot of video in my childhood but for this project I learned Videopad and Abode After Affects from YouTube tutorials. It took me time in learning though Im still discovering more. I preferred these softwares because they are user friendly, advance and gave my work an amazing finished look.

It develops a feeling of working like a expert. Easily downloaded from internet and save time and money too. These softwares are very sophisticated video editing software.

Videopad, with a powerful combination of effects, transitions, audio editing and many other tricks, any user will be able to assemble a masterpiece of his own. Each one of the three is an important part of making a video super. Transitions are the provided, stylish way to switch from scene to scene. They come in all varieties: from clean and simple to wacky. Video effects helps me to change the way my scenes feel and look.

The sound effects I downloaded from

The car tuning and mobile phone ringing sound in my project is downloaded from here.

For my college assignments of Media studies I research all the work from internet only because as it is a new subject so the books are not available.
