Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

Creative visualization is the technique of using

your imagination to create what you want in life

• use your imagination to create a clear image, idea or

feeling of something you wish to manifest

• continue to focus on the idea feeling or picture

regularly giving it positive energy until it becomes

objective reality - till you achieve what you are

imagining

Creative visualization is something you

probably do quite often without even realising

it

It is used to bring changes you desire into

your life, such as • achieving goals you set

• modifying unwanted behaviours (quitting smoking)

• enhancing feelings and emotions (becoming

happier and more self-confident).

It is also a good tool for improving physical

performance and enhancing your physique.

Note - this technique cannot be used to control the behaviour of

others or cause them to do something against their will

Visualization is one of the primary

technologies used in sports psychology.

“What happens out there is a result of

what happens in here” –• your performance is often the result of what’s

happening inside your head, or more

specifically the movies and soundtracks playing

inside your head.

Australian Psychologist Alan Richardson made a little experiment.

He took a group of basketball players, divided them in 3 groups and tested each player’s ability to make free throws.• The first group would practice 20 minutes

every day.• The second would only visualize themselves

making free throws, but no real practice was allowed.

• The third one would not practice or visualize.

The results were astounding. There was

significant improvement on the group

that only visualized; they were almost as

good as they guys who actually

practiced.

In the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, New York,

Soviet athletes were divided into four test

groups.

• Group 1, who went through 100% physical training.

• Group 2, who went through 75% physical training

and 25% mental training.

• Group 3, who went through 50% physical training

and 50% mental training.

• Group 4, who went through 25% physical training

and 75% mental training.

Who do you think was the most successful

group

Group 4, who concentrated most of their

training on cognitive aspects.

“I visualized myself being and having what it was I wanted… Before I won my first Mr Universe title, I walked around the tournament like I owned it... I had won it so many times in my mind that there was no doubt I would win it. Then when I moved on to the movies, the same thing. I visualized myself being a famous actor and earning big money... I just knew it would happen”

Creative Visualization is magic in the truest and highest meaning of the word.

It involves understanding and aligning yourself with the natural principles that govern the workings of the universe and learning to use these principles in the most conscious and creative ways.

The process of change does not occur on superficial levels, through mere “positive thinking” - It involves exploring discovering and changing our deepest most basic attitude towards life

The only effective way to use visualization is “going with the flow”.

It means holding on to your goals although they seem very important and being willing to change them if something more appropriate and satisfying comes along.

It is that balance between keeping your destination clearly in mind and yet enjoying all the beautiful scenes you encounter along the way, and even being able to change your destination if life starts taking a different direction.

Creative Visualization can become an

experience of deep and meaningful

growth – in the process of which we

discover ways where we are holding

ourselves back, blocking ourselves from

achieving satisfaction and fulfilment in

our lives through our fears and

unconscious beliefs

It is important to relax deeply while doing visualization as it would be able to make far more effective changes in your life than you would by thinking, worrying, planning and trying to manipulate things and people

It is especially good to do visualization at night just before sleeping or in the morning just after awakening because at those times the mind and the body are already deeply relaxed and receptive.

Receptive mode – we simply relax and allow images or impressions to come to us without choosing the details of them, we take what comes.

Active mode – we consciously choose and create what we wish to see or imagine.

Both these processes are important part of visualization – and both receptive and active abilities will be strengthened through practice.

Set your goal• Decide on something you would like to

have, work toward, realize or create. • Choose goals that are fairly easy for you

to believe I, that you feel are possible to realise in the near future.

Create a clear idea or picture • Create an idea or a mental picture or a

feeling of the object or situation exactly as you want it. You should think of it in the present tense as already existing the way you want it to be.

• Imagine yourself in the situation as you desire it – include as many details as you can

Focus on it often• Bring your idea or mental picture

to mind often, both in quiet meditation periods and also casually throughout the day and when you happen to think of it – so that it becomes an integrated part of your life

• Focus on it clearly, yet in a light and relaxed way

Give it positive energyAs you focus on your goal, think about it in a positive

encouraging way.

Make strong positive statements (Affirmations) to

yourself – that it exists, that it has come or is coming to

you.

See yourself receiving or achieving it.

Continue to work on this process until

you achieve your goal or no longer have

the desire to do so.

If you find a goal has changed for you or

when you achieve the goal, be sure that

you acknowledge that to yourself - that

either you are no longer focussing on the

goal or that the goal is completed.

Affirmations are one of the most important elements of creative visualization.

To affirm is to make firm – an affirmation is a strong positive statement that something is already so.

It is a powerful technique, one which can in a short time transform many of our attitudes and expectations about life and thereby help to change what we create for ourselves.

I am now enjoying everything I do

I am healthy and beautiful

I am open to receiving all the blessings of

this abundant universe

I give thanks now to for my life and

health, happiness and self expression

I love doing my work and I am richly

rewarded creatively and financially

Always phrase affirmations in the present tense, not in the future

Always phrase affirmations in the most positive way you can

Shorter and simpler the affirmation – the more effective

Always remember you are creating something new or fresh

Affirmations are not meant to contradict or change your feelings or emotions

Try as much as possible to create a feeling or belief, an experience that your affirmation can be true.

Desire • “Do I truly, in my heart, desire this goal to be

realised?”

Belief • “Do I believe that this goal can exist or do I think it is

possible for me to realise or attain it”

Acceptance –• “Am I completely willing to have this?”

The sum total of these 3 elements is the “intention”

When you have a strong intention to

create something – i.e. you deeply

desire it, you completely believe you can

do it and you are totally willing to have it

– it is very likely to manifest in your life in

one way or another.

The more clearer and stronger your

intention, the more quickly and easily

your creative visualization will work.

Listening to your inner self• what it is that you truly desire from life, and the

things you do and don’t like about yourself and

how you interact with the world.

• you want to achieve a calm and detached state

of mind so any painful thoughts can be

considered without too much discomfort, and to

avoid being overly swayed by strong emotions

Setting goals that you want to achieve• When you’re relaxed, you can use this state of

mind to accomplish many things.

• To start with you’re in the best frame of mind to

start choosing the goals that you want to

visualize about.

• Try thinking about things in your life that you

want to change, whether relationships, finances,

health, or something else, and then try to narrow

these down to a handful of goals

Achieving goals you previously thought

impossible• As long as you’re realistic and keep your goals

within the realms of possibility, you can find that

creative visualization helps you to achieve even

the most seemingly impossible ambitions.
