…a Creator God?

What do you believe about….

Page 2: Creator God

We believe the creator is God. We also believe that God loves

us and cares for us. God created the world in 7 days and nights.

He created us because he wanted to have friends. Because of us he gave us his only son!By

Reeya and KristineReeya and Krissie I can see you have been

thinking about this and reflecting on scripture. You also remember the work we did last term

about the Catholic Creed.Great thinking!

Page 3: Creator God

We believe God created the earth. We also believe that when we get hurt it is not God punishing us it is just bad luck. We believe in one God. We don’t know if God is a boy or a girl so we call God it or God. We don’t know if the whole creation story is really real. By Joely and Joseph

You have done a great deal of thinking. Well done. I can see you can remember some of the work we did last term about the Creed. I’m really pleased to see that you ‘know what you don’t know’. There’s lots I don’t know about God too, but I like wondering!

Page 4: Creator God

This is what we believe. (Helena) The creator is not just one person but many. I also believe that every person is treated equally (Audrey) I believe that the world runs like a clock. I also believe that every thing has a purpose. I also believe that one book is just like the world because as soon as you turn a page, a day has gone, and a soon as you finish the book the world may be over. We believe that the world spins fast, therefore the creator changes. We also believe that one life can change the world. From Audrey and Helena

Thank you for reflecting so deeply on the video we watched. I really like your clever comparison between books and our lives. I would be interested in hearing more about your thought that the world runs like a clock.

Page 5: Creator God

I think that God is the Creator and that he can control everything that happens. I also think that even though God can control all things that some things happen on purpose or by accident or simply because they need to happen. I believe in the story of Creation in the Bible. I am glad that God made the world. I think that God made us for a purpose; I think that that purpose was so that we could look after the world, and care for the plants and animals. I think that God only made the flood in Noah's ark because we were not doing what He wanted us to do. Too many of us were doing the opposite. By Elena

Elena, you have shown that you know a lot about the stories in the book of Genesis. Well done. You have expressed some strong opinions. You are beginning to talk about ‘stewardship’, which is something we’ll be learning more about soon. Perhaps you could look up the word ‘stewardship’ and be ready to tell me what it means.

Page 6: Creator God

We believe in one God that created the earth. There might be another creator that we do not know about. Somewhere around Heaven and Earth. Who ever it is I wonder if it is a girl or a boy or if he or she is dead or alive, or still in Earth. We also wonder if people know about him or her or if any one lives with him or her. Or if he or she created any thing or any one and we also wonder if people have seen him or her and heard of him or her. Madison, Paris and Chanlyn.

I am so pleased to see all those wonderings. You have clearly done lots of deep thinking and come up with really interesting questions. I wonder about these things too.

Page 7: Creator God

I believe God made the world for us to live in because he trusts us that we would take care of it for him. I believe there is bad things in the world that we don't know when it is going to come like we don't know when is Jesus is going to come and there is good things in the world .The world has everything and God knows what is going on. By Jennifer

Jen, you seem very clear about your own beliefs here. Catholic tradition and scripture teach us that God did indeed make the world for us to take care of. Do you think that we’re doing a good job of taking care of the world? It’s a big responsibility isn’t it? Great thinking.

Page 8: Creator God

I believe the creator is a male God because when we talk about God we normally say He. I believe the creation story is real. I believe the creator is God because at home I read the Bible and it says that in seven days God made the world. By Gianni and Peter

You are clearly familiar with the first creation story in Genesis. Good work. Soon we’ll be looking at the story of Adam, Eve and the Garden of Eden. I’ll be interested to see what you think and wonder about that story.

Page 9: Creator God

Many people believe that God is a boy because they say He but no one knows if he actually is a boy, he might be a girl. I believe in the creation story, but I don’t believe that snakes had legs and there was a tree of knowledge. By Sebastian and Panashe

I’d be interested to hear more about what it is that you believe about the Genesis creation stories. We’ll be discussing the ‘main message’ of the stories soon, so think about where we might be able to find some important truths. Good thinking, boys.

Page 10: Creator God

I think God created the world because of the trees, rocks, waterfalls and animals which tell me that God created nature and everything else. By Jordan

This is a very ‘sacramental’ response, Jordan. Many people say that they can ‘see’ or ‘feel’ God when they look at the beauty of nature. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Page 11: Creator God

I believe in the creator God. I believe that the creator God made people, trees, animals and all other types of things and stuff, you name it. Plus who knows whether the creator God is a girl or a boy. But personally I think that the creator God is probably a boy. I believe God is a boy because he made a man first then he made women. There might be more than one creator nobody knows. Has anybody ever seen the creator? Dane and Rhiana.

What a lot of wondering you two have done. Great job! I like the way you have given a reason for your opinion that the creator is male. I also like your question ‘has anyone ever seen the creator?’. Have a look at Jordan’s response and see if that helps your thinking.

Page 12: Creator God

I do not believe in a Creator God. I believe the sun blew up and it made everything. by Jackson

You are a very scientific thinker, Jackson. It’s always good to hear your side of the debate. I wonder if you think there are any important truths in the Genesis stories? Do you think that people have a responsibility to take care of the Earth?

Page 13: Creator God

I think that the world runs like a time machine. And other gods live. James

Very interesting, James. Have you done much reading about other gods, and other cultural beliefs? We’ll be looking at creation stories from other countries and cultures. You might find some of these very interesting. I wonder if there will be any similarities between these stories and the stories in the Bible.

Page 14: Creator God

We believe God is the creator and made mankind. God is a spirit that helps our daily lives. God is like our father forever even in heaven he looks after us. God is for us and for other people including sinners. I believe that he or she makes consequences for us because we sin. God is like a three in one family to us. The Holy Spirit, the Son of God and the God. By Finn and Tyson

Goodness me, there’s a lot of theology there, boys! I am really inspired by your statement ‘God is for us and for other people, including sinners’. You’re also thinking about the concept of ‘trinity’ (three Gods in one God) which is a very complicated idea. Congratulations for challenging yourselves.

Page 15: Creator God

We believe that God is our creator. God loves us as much as we love God. We also believe that anything is possible and that's how God created the world. God's always there for us so we should respect God's world. How do you know that when you move you do it by yourself? It could be God. You never know. Did God make us so we could move by ourselves? Or did God make us so he could be everything? By Eden and Luana

These are very deep and interesting questions. Well done, girls. You have really got me thinking about a creator God who created a world where anything is possible. What an amazing idea. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Page 16: Creator God

God might have been the creator. I have no idea who the creator was I don't know anyone who does. But there could someone else who could have made the earth. God's little helpers could have done it. A Greek god could have done it. No one still alive on earth could have made it. So who did make the earth? For all I know Santa could have made the earth I mean how would he know it off by heart if he didn't make it? Or the Easter bunny delivering sweets every year. So you see any one could have made the earth. I wouldn't be surprised if we made it from scratch.

By MireilleWe can always depend on you, Mireille, for some seriously

interesting thinking! You are considering a whole range of possibilities at the moment, which is always a good place to begin. I’m looking forward to seeing what ‘essential truths’ you might find in the Genesis stories.

Page 17: Creator God

I believe God created us. I believe that whenwe fall over it is just a sign of bad luck. I believe God controls every thing that goes on.by Luca

Thank you for sharing your beliefs, Luca. I am interested to see that you are thinking about the very interesting concepts of ‘luck’ and ‘control’.

Page 18: Creator God

I believe in one creator God. There are two Bible stories of the creation but which one is true? I think the one where God created it in seven days is true because God can't create the Earth in one day. People believe different things. Some might not believe in God and creating the world. Other religions might believe in different creators. By Katia

You are right that there are two different stories of creation in the Hebrew scriptures, Katia. Well done. I am pleased to see that you are aware that other people have other opinions. It’s important to remember to respect other faiths.

Page 19: Creator God

We think that creator God, is the person who changes our lives and helps us learn. God treats us the way we like to be treated. God built our body to make us last our lives. God made us to have friends. God gave us nature and oxygen to live. By John-Robert and Chanlyn

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You are describing a very generous God. I wonder what this God expects from us? Do you think there is a particular way this God would like us to behave?

Page 20: Creator God

I think God is our creator. Because in the film the girl said "everything has a purpose”. Like people were created for a reason. Not every thing happens for a reason. From Gemma, Daniel and Alisha.

It’s great to see you pondering the question ‘does everything happen for a reason?’. The little girl in the film said that everything happens because the Creator has planned it that way, but some people believe that everything happens by chance. It sounds like you three are still thinking about it (and so am I!).

Page 21: Creator God

We believe in one God who created our earth and human body he created nature, animals and the galaxy such as veggies, fruit etc.He made us because he loves us and also for us to take care of ourselves and other people. The Creator wasn’t born, he could create anything he likes, and God is a really smart person. All of us should thank God every day because he created our lives and we should respect him back. Joshua Ayoub, Harry Politidis and Nathan Chui

Thank you for your careful, well expressed thoughts. You clearly describe a creator God who has been very generous, so it’s nice to see that you also believe in being grateful. Did you know that some people like to end each day by thinking of all the things for which they are grateful. This can be like a little prayer.

Page 22: Creator God

We believe that God gave us a body and a life and we need to look after it. If we don't look after our body we won't get a second chance. We believe that God is the only creator. We also believe that God is Holy Spirit. By Madison and Sally

Thank you, girls. You have raised a very interesting point. If we believe in a generous creator God, then what are our responsibilities? It sounds like you think that we’ve been given a very precious gift and we need to take extra special care of it. I think many people would agree with you.

Page 23: Creator God

We think that everything happens for a purpose and that purpose is controlled by every living thing. By Lawrence and Samuel

What an interesting comment! I might have to think about this one for a while. Thank you for sharing.

Page 24: Creator God

I think our God is not the only creator maybe other religions have their own Gods and their own ideas of the creation of the world. Or maybe another thing created every thing that we believe, or the creator is a spirit creator. I don't know. Jean-Luc

Jean-Luc, it’s great to see that you are aware that different people have different ideas. You are clearly considering lots of different perspectives, which is a great place to start. There’s a lot to think about, isn’t there? Thank you for sharing your wonderings.

Page 25: Creator God

We believe that there is a creator that creates everything. We believe that there is a God that loves us. We believe that God created human beings. We believe that there is a purpose to everything that happens. We do not believe that there is a God that controls us. We do not believe that there is a water God. We do not believe that there is a fire God. By Christian and Matthew

You two sound like you have very clear thoughts and feelings about this topic. I am particularly interested to see that you believe in a God that loves us, but does not control us. I like the way you have expressed what you DO believe and what you DON’T believe. That’s very balanced thinking.

Page 26: Creator God

I believe that God made the world and he gave us brains and now our brains control ourselves. Also I believe that God made animals. Not everything is made by God like buildings.Darcy

You have made a very sophisticated observation here, Darcy. Many theologians would agree with your idea that God made us, and gave us our brains, and now we have to use our brains to make choices. This is called ‘free will’. Great thinking.

Page 27: Creator God

I think we control our actions but God creates people. Kynan

Short and sweet, Kynan! You have had a similar thought to Darcy. Again, you are talking about the concept of ‘free will’; the idea that God created us, but it’s up to us how we choose to live our lives. Well done.
