Credit Recovery Application 2020-2021 James Logan High School Overview : ACELLUS is an online curriculum that is equivalent to Logan courses. Students enrolled in Credit Recovery Online with ACELLUS will be expected to work through a series of learning modules and/or lessons, quizzes, unit tests, mid-term and final exams, and some “offline” assignments. Once they have completed all lessons, quizzes and exams, their grade will be calculated and posted to their transcript. ATTENDANCE is required, or the student may be dropped (for the next student on the waitlist). Course Details: Meeting Days and Times: Most classes will meet during 8th period 3:20PM-4:00PM, virtually on Zoom Some classes also have a zero period option of 9:15AM-9:45AM. You will have an opportunity to indicate your interest to indicate your interest in meeting zero period below. Class days are varied. Please indicate if you have any prior commitments below and we will do our best to schedule you in a section that meets on alternate days. Class will only meet two days a week. Students are expected to work independently on the other three days. Once students complete their course, they are given credit and dropped from the course. Semester Term Dates Procedures: You may be dropped from Credit Recovery if you do not comply with any of the stated rules and procedures--including the school wide attendance requirement. Students will receive an initial tutorial on how to login and navigate the ACELLUS site. After the initial tutorial, students are ready to work their way through the lessons online. They can also access the lessons from any device that can connect to the internet 24/7. Quizzes can be taken on your own. Tests (Unit Tests), Mid-Term and End of Semester (Final Exam) must be taken in class with the teacher visible supervision through your camera ( Virtual Learning: with your device camera on during Zoom or Google Meet with the teacher). Your final grade for the course will be calculated by taking the weighted averages of your assignments, quizzes, tests and the end of Semester test. Please complete the online request for an unofficial copy of your transcript one week after completing a course to ensure that the course is listed on your transcript. If it is not, please see your counselor S2for a transcript adjustment and discuss recently finished class. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. Students will be dropped from Credit Recovery if a total of 5 unexcused absences or 8 tardies are accumulated. This 8th period class will show on your attendance record, and you will receive phone calls home the next day if you are absent from class. Any unexcused absences from 8th period will impact your eligibility to continue in Credit Recovery If you are caught cheating and/or plagiarizing you will get one warning, after the first warning you will be dropped from the program and no credits will be given. More importantly, you will no longer be eligible to take any more ACELLUS courses.
