Credo’s mission statementCREDO, Cercle de Réflexion et

d’Etude pour le Développement de l’Optique (think-tank for the develop-ment of optical fibre) is an inter-pro-

fessional association launched in 1993 to pool the specialisations and expertise of the electronic communications and High-Speed Broadband worlds. Relying strongly on its technical expertise, its purpose is to:• Promote the advantages of using optical

fibre for infrastructures and networks and encourage the development of new appli-cations and uses.

• Facilitate exchanges and shared informa-tion among various stakeholders.

• Define technical specifications and issue recommendations.

• Facilitate the emergence of innovations in the field of High-Speed Broadband.

Our approach is a global one that includes not only the choice of components and equip-ment, but also the related engineering and installation rules, inspection rules, applica-tions and the qualification level of our service providers.

CREDO, «The association of professions and expertise for optical fibre and High-Speed Broadband»

The deployment of the FTTH access network, one of CREDO’s technological certaintie

CREDO is convinced that a fibre-optic network, neutral and pooled, deployed across the territo-ry, will meet all requirements of sustainability, availability and quality, and will be able to carry the service to every location and integrate future evolutions.

Optical fibre provides an almost unlimited broadband. Thanks to its ability to process different media simultaneously and to transfer large volumes of data, this modern technology is ideally suited to High-Speed Broadband.

As a natural builder of bridges and through its identity as an inter-professional association, its team spirit and its vision for optical fibre and High-Speed Broadband, CREDO is rising

to the challenge of an increasingly digital world.Bridging the gap between various industries, ope-rators and com-munities, CRE-

DO, as a forum, is enriched by the expertise and feedback of its members. It represents a shared pool of thought and expertise, at the service of its members and, more broadly, of optical fibre technology, which it places at the heart of its solutions for the development of High-Speed Broadband.

CREDO’s work relies on the technical know-how of its members, who share their expe-rience and specialisations. The think-tank is organised around shared knowledge and collective thinking. It encou-rages the pooling of practices, observes the emergence of new uses, studies technological advances, and relates innovations with issues to be solved.

Through its publications, CREDO issues recommendations, thematic guides and reference docu-ments for professional and industrial stakeholders.

The experience CREDO has gained in the past 20 years allows it to make regular recommendations stemming from the observation of the implementation and use of optical technologies as they follow various evolutions. These recommendations, included in 13 guides published to this day, drive the development of the business line and help institutional stakeholders in their thought processes and strategic decision-making.

The CREDO puts enrichment and pooling the wealth of technical knowledge of the digital world at the heart of its mission. CREDO produces, maintains and organises a database of documents meeting high requirements in terms of technical accuracy and practical relevance. This approach is welcomed by professional stakeholders and institutional decision-makers.

These guides serve as a reference and industry benchmark. They draw a full picture of the state of the art regarding architectures, technologies and practices. The most recent publications cover the following topics:

Publications stemming from shared intelligence• Installation guide for FTTH access networks (2012)• Scaling up to High-Speed Broadband in the territories, a transitional step towards FTTH (2014)• Latest generation regional data centres (2015)• FTTH networks deployment guide in less densely populated areas (ZMD) (2017)

CREDO is also:• An «observatory of proper practices for FTTH networks» to ensure the quality of network execution.• The High-Speed Broadband bus: «Fibre in Motion», acting as a functional showcase for High-

Speed Broadband. The bus travels through the regions of France, meeting elected officials and other local stakeholders.

• The organiser of large regional symposiums called «Forums». These serve as a venue for local stakeholders who want to showcase their projects and for CREDO to present the results of our work.

• Every two month, CREDO holds a meeting for professional stakeholders, called «Fibre Thursday».
