STAGE 3 EXCURSION TO SYDNEY

Last week our Year 5 and 6 students travelled to Sydney for their major excursion. They had an action packed adventure full of fun activities. See the full run down of activities inside.

CHPS GV TERM 3 WEEK 7

STAGE 3 EXCURSION TO SYDNEY

The excursion began early in the morning when our bus driver Ian picked up Mrs Munday and 48 weary eyed children at the rotunda. On the first day our students visited the Powerhouse Museum before setting up for our stay at Land’s Edge in Chowder Bay. The first night they travelled back over the bridge to the Sydney Tower Eye and took in the 360 degree views of the city. The next morning they awoke early to perfect weather for a day exploring the zoo before catching a ferry across the harbour to walk around the Sydney Opera House, Botanic Gardens to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. On the Thursday morning the weather was not nearly as favourable but our intrepid explorers forged on through rain and cold winds to the Rock’s Sydney Learning Adventure where they learnt about the early white settlement in the area and dug for artefacts. After this they jumped back onto the bus and travelled to the Art Gallery of NSW and then onto the State Parliament House where they took part in a mock sitting. That evening they were treated to ten pin bowling before heading back to Land’s Edge for a well-earned rest. On their final morning in the big smoke they took in the Sydney Aquarium before heading home. The students and Mrs Munday arrived early, many with the sniffles, a pocket full of souvenirs and ready for bed. The students were wonderful throughout this excursion with every place we visited commenting on their behaviour. Thank you to Mrs Munday and Mr Lobb for giving up your time to take them on this wonderful adventure.

LIONS CLUB SHOW AND SHINE

We are only 2 weeks out for the first annual Lion’s Club Show and Shine. Our P&C have been working with the Lions Club members to ensure that the Sunday event has something for everyone. They have hired similar rides to those at our Spring Fair two years ago for the children with wrist bands available for sale at our office now. There will also be live music, a Miss Show and Shine event, market stalls, food, raffles and hundred clubs and cakes for sale. The Lions Club donated over $10,000 back into our community last year including $2,000 to the school and pre-school alongside our P&C raising over $20,000 towards the purchase of our new playground equipment. This event will secure that these kinds of donations can continue but it needs us as a community to show our support by coming along and taking part. We hope to see you all there supporting this event.

Show and Shine Raffle tickets are available from the school office for $2 per ticket. There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs including holiday accomodation, a car service and car detail, Green Room voucher, Pharmacy voucher, Black Fish voucher plus lots more.

SENIOR GIRLS TOUCH FOOTBALL

Our senior girls touch football team will be playing their Round 4 knockout match against Kempsey South Public School tomorrow. The match will kick off at 12 midday at the council football fields next to CHPS and your support is most welcome if you are able to attend. Please note that football players need to wear their full school uniform to school in the morning to have their school photos taken and will then change into football uniforms, which will be supplied on the day. FRUIT ‘N’ VEG MONTH

Our school has registered for Fruit & Veg Month 2019. The theme for this year is ‘The Adventures of Captain Fruit N Veg!’ It's all about linking eating fruit and vegetables with good times, superheroes, superpowers and adventures! Fruit & Veg Month 2019 runs for the last 4 weeks of Term 3, Monday 2nd to Friday 27th September. As part of Fruit & Veg Month, students will be involved in various classroom and school based activities which encourage them to eat more fruit and vegetables.

LIFE EDUCATION COMING IN WEEK 9

The Life Education pop up classroom visit has been rescheduled for Week 9 from Monday 16th to Wednesday 18th September. If you haven’t returned note and payment please do so as soon as possible.
