Crews perform high-water rescues after night of torrentialrain in OKC metro

A wild night of torrential rain led to several high-water rescues in theOklahoma City metro.

Near Banner Road and Highway 66, dive teams searched stranded cars after peopletried to drive through high waters. Crews from the Yukon and Oklahoma fire departmentschecked on two cars in the area but did not find anyone in either vehicle.

“The occupants exited the vehicle,” Yukon Battalion Chief Caleb McDoulett said.

The people were able to get to safety, and officials said no injuries were reported. Fireofficials told KOCO 5 things could have turned out differently as the waters continued torise.

“This is a problem area. If people come up on this area and the water, they need to runaround and don’t drive through it,” McDoulett said.

multiple-vehicle wreck in Canadian County.

Emergency crews responded to the scene near I-40 and Cimarron Road around 6�30

a.m. on Wednesday.

Of�cials tell KFOR a semi, RV, and a car were involved in the crash.

The car was found in a ditch.

The driver of the RV and three people from the car were transported to the hospital.

One passenger in serious condition. The driver of the semi was not transported.

What led up to the crash is still under investigation.

Eastbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane between Cimarron Rd. and Garth Brooks

Blvd. near Yukon for several hours due to the incident.

Drivers should avoid the area and use an alternate route.

A man was rushed to a Oklahoma City hospital after hewas hit by a vehicle on Interstate 35 early Tuesdaymorning. The vehicle �ed the scene.

Logan County deputies were informed of a man standingin the highway at 5:54 a.m. near the south Guthrie onramp. Just two minutes later, a 911 call was made statingthe man had been hit by a vehicle.

Emergency crews arrived to the end ofthe southbound ramp and found theman lying in the outside lane.

The pedestrian appears to have beenstruck in the arm by one of thevehicle’s mirrors. A mirror waslocated within feet from the man.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol isinvestigating the case. At this point,an of�cial report has not beenreleased by troopers.

Deputies attempted to locate a vehicle, but wereunsuccessful.

The man was taken to OU Medical Center by Guthrie EMSwith internal and external injuries.
