Interesting Facts

According to Brandon’s father they never brought out the actual knife that was used, instead they brought out a replica that was 5X bigger than the actual knife which was 2in.

Michael McLoren who sold the marijuana was never sentenced to anytime in prison.

Background In 1995,in Agoura Hills CA, a group of teen

boys were looking for marijuana at Michael McLoren’s fort which was in his backyard. Jimmy was the body guard and once the group of boys came, a fight broke out in which Jimmy Farris ended up dead.

Jason Holland was the only one who did the stabbing, and because of the Felony Murder Rule everyone that was with Jason all got the same punishment, life in jail without parole, even though they didn’t commit the crime.

The crime was committed in the backyard of Michael McLoren, Michael’s Mom said she had no idea that “Mike” sold marijuana there.

Forensic Evidence

They never really found evidence besides the knife.

The knife that was found was used against Jason Holland, in which he pleaded guilty.

The Felony Murder put all the boys in jail without evidence to prove them guilty.

Legal AspectsJason Holland was sentenced to life in prison without parole plus eight years.

Brandon Hein was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus four years.

Micah Holland was sentenced to 29 years to prison.

Christopher Velardo pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 11 years, he was released from prison in 2000.

Other Facts

There have been two documentary movies made about this case, called Reckless Indifference and The Prosecution Of Brandon Hein.

Brandon, Anthony, Micah and Jason remain in prison as of today and Brandon and Micah are the only ones that are eligible for parole until 2020.
