Flying Start What a beautiful Flying Start morning! This week we made patterned dinosaurs by gluing small little coloured pieces of paper onto the dinosaur cut outs. After our snack, the students were busting to get out and enjoy the sunshine so we played on the fixed equipment until the parents collected their children. Flying Start will be operating in the library for the next two Mondays, as the Kindergarten room is being renovated. We hope to see you all next week!

Year 6 Taster Lessons Conclude Crookwell Public Year 6 students enjoyed their third and final visit to Crookwell High this Monday and participated in lessons such as sport, maths and woodwork. One group was fortunate to visit the agriculture farm with Mrs McIntosh and meet the chickens and sheep that reside there. The taster lessons have been fun and we look forward to Orientation Day in December.

Brock Chudleigh was instructed by Mrs McIntosh on how to drench one of the ewes at the high school farm during the

taster lessons. We are Renovating! There are new and exciting refurbishments about to occur in our much loved Kindergarten classroom. Over the next five weeks many workmen will be transforming our building into a new state of the art classroom. Kindergarten will now be operating in the library for the rest of Term 3 and beginning of Term 4.

Flying Start will also operate in the library for the last two weeks of term.

Boys Knock Out Hockey Last week a team of very excited young men ventured to Narellan Hockey fields to take on the next hurdle in the NSW Boys Knock Out Competition. Already champions of both the South Coast and Riverina Districts the boys were excited. The opposition was Erina Heights Public School which is located on the Central Coast. The game was a very exciting experience with both teams not knowing much about each other. Terrific skills were shown on both sides of the field and our boys fought hard for the duration of the game. Erina Heights had great strength in the middle of the field and were very lucky to sneak one past our amazing goalie.

Our boys never gave up, and fought back and created several exciting moments that had the side line holding their breath! Unfortunately the boys were unable to score and lost to Erina Heights 2-0. Throughout the game our boys showed outstanding sportsmanship and heart and supported each other. All team members played amazingly and should be incredibly proud of what they achieved in such a short space of time, again with some of these boys having never picked up a hockey stick before.

Congratulations to all players of this team – you made your families, school and community very proud of your achievements and most importantly the sportsmanship you continue to show!

Thank you to all the parents and families that assisted in travelling with the team, training sessions and support. A huge thank you must go to the McGregor Family, in particular Mrs McGregor for her coaching of the team throughout this journey.

Can’t wait to see what next season brings!

Mason Kearney showing his skills.

Celebrating a terrific game.

Book Busking During the last week of term, providing the weather is agreeable, students will ‘Book Busk’ in the Crookwell main street area. If the weather is inclement and you are unsure as to whether Book Busking will go ahead please contact the school by phoning 48321213 before journeying to support the buskers.

Book Busking occurs when our students read down the street, under the supervision of their class teacher, to showcase their reading skills. Often passers-by make a donation to show their appreciation. This money raised is used to help purchase additional reading resources for the school.

This is a very inspiring activity for all our children. We rely on the support of the community to help our children shine in the spotlight for just a short time. Please drop down the street and support the reading buskers if at all possible. We’d love to see you there!

N.B. To represent the school students need to be wearing their full school uniform. What is Anaphylaxis? Anaphylaxis is a severe and sudden allergic reaction. It occurs when a person is exposed to an allergen (such as food or an insect bite). Reactions usually begin within minutes of exposure and can progress rapidly over a period of up to two hours or more. Anaphylaxis is potentially life threatening and always requires an emergency response. Fortunately anaphylactic reactions are uncommon and usually preventable.

At Crookwell Public School there are staff and students who suffer from severe allergic reactions and in order to provide a safe environment our policy is to restrict access to allergens.

ALL students are asked NOT to bring

nuts, peanut butter or Nutella to school.

If your child suffers from allergies the school needs to be informed. There is information available from the school office, along with forms that need to be filled in by parents of students who have been identified as being anaphylactic, ever been hospitalized due to anaphylaxis, or have been issued with an Epipen.

If you need clarification, please contact the school. Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter. It’s not OK to be away It’s not great to be late A reminder that school commences at 9.15am

Rock & Water – Building Strength & Confidence The focus this week was to tie all elements that we have learnt about Rock & Water together. This included standing strong, flaming eyes, jabbing and blocking and coaching. With a partner, students were able to refine these core skills using a pad to assist with blocking. Students worked to their full strength knowing them and their partner were safe. Excellent work infants students!

Dustin Carr precisely holds the pad ready to take the impact

of Michael Foster’s force.

Sophie Ward and Olivia Wong take turns of pushing their full

P&C News

Monster wood raffle number 2 The P&C will be holding another massive wood raffle during the upcoming local elections which will be held on Saturday 10th September. We have drawn up a roster to man the stall and this time we will be asking our infants families to donate one hour out of their day. Please check the roster for your allocated time and if you will not be available please organise a swap and advise the school office of the changes. We will also be sending home some raffle tickets to sell and these tickets and money will be due back to the school office by Friday 9th September. Fundraising Catalogue Drive Over the next two weeks, fundraising catalogues will be attached to your News & Views. There are 3 different companies we are participating with.

There are some fantastic products on offer and in past years we have had families tell us some products have sold out quite quickly and they have missed out. So for this reason we are suggesting two order dates.

The first order to be placed will be Friday 23 September (orders to be received at the school office by Wednesday 21 September)

The second order to be placed will be Friday 4 November (orders to be received at the school office by Wednesday 2 November)

All items will be received before the end of Term 4. Please ensure your name and current contact number is on the order forms so we can advise when orders are ready to collect.

Canteen Volunteers If you are able to volunteer one day per term please contact the school office.

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
