Crowd Funding for Masaki Iwana’s Next Film

Masaki IWANA butoh artist residing in France aims for the start of the shooting of his fourth dramatic film for the summer of 2015. We are raising part of the funds necessary for creation of the film "CHARLOTTE / Susabi (Fun) " through "Independent Film NABE", a part of Crowd Funding Japan "Motion Gallery". Fundraising begins 1 October 2013 (until end of January 2014). https://motion-gallery.net/projects/susabichar Expectations are growing for a work uniquely possible from a butoh artist --- a poetic creation with a boldness that questions current film making. Application guidelines are written in Japanese, but if we can receive donation from international supporters through this site, the total donation amount becomes larger and will help greatly the funding for the new film. We will then make the web procedure on your behalf to place your donation amount into the funding. <Synopsis> Present-day Paris. Japanese performer Kamimura (K, 45 year-old) had lost his ex-wife Suiko when he became overly involved in his artistic activities. Since losing her, he was not able to do his performance he used to do with the

cymbals. One early summer afternoon, K visits a shop in Bastille to order a glass sheet for his performance. At the shop, he meets the store owner Asako (35 year-old woman) who resembles his ex-wife. She is somewhat tipsy. Asako had moved to France wanting to be a ballerina, but now she is wife to a kind husband Yann and a mother of a 7 year old son Thomas. The same day, K enters the metro because of a sudden rain. He sees Charlotte, a beautiful French freak woman with deep eyes, exposing herself to the gaze of the crowd. "See you in a dream," Charlotte says to K. That night K dreams --- a celebration party on a cruise hosted by the company GUNPOWER for selling out the airport. In this party, Charlotte and K exhibits an erotic show. After a week, K returns to the shop to pick up his glass sheet. On impulse, K asks Asako out for a date as he is getting in the car to go home. Aasko sees him off with utter amazement. K regrets his careless behavior. However, after a few days, K receives a call from Asako. That night, he sees again a dream of Charlotte…. <Concept> • K, an artist disillusioned by the world and himself, becomes involved with 3 women in relationships beyond reality, memory, and illusion. Through these relationships, he questions himself of pride of a human being, of consciousness of sin, of atonement.
