Wow, the school year has flown by and it is hard to believe that we only have one more month of school left. June has come quickly. We have made many memories this year at E.T. Crowle P.S. Our staff and students have worked hard together to broaden horizons, deepen thinking and explore their creativity. There is so much to be proud of. Our school is overflowing with talent, creativity and imagination. Our students have had the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of activities. Each student has had the opportunity to find something within the school that engages them, and has found the encouragement along the way to bolster their success. Whether it was the arts, technology, classroom activities, band, sport teams or clubs, our school spirit is born from student, staff and parental involvement. Congratulations to all our grade 8 students on your accomplishments throughout your years at E.T. Crowle. It is time to close one chapter of your life and begin another. We are extremely proud of each and every one of you. Good luck with your future endeavors! A big thank you to everyone who dedicated their time to volunteer at E.T. Crowle P.S. this year. Your time is so valuable, and your dedication is appreciated. We would also like to thank our wonderful School Council. They are a group of dedicated individuals who meet once a month throughout the school year to discuss topics related to our school community. They offer their suggestions and support to make our school a better place for student well-being and achievement. They are always looking for new members so consider joining them in September. We want to extend our sincere thanks to the staff we have at E.T. Crowle Public School. They create a range of engaging activities for your children to increase their critical thinking and problem solving skills. They work together as a team ensuring each day is better than the previous one. We thank them for their dedicated efforts On behalf of the staff of E.T. Crowle, we wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer. See you on September 5, 2016. E.T. CROWLE JUNE 2017 NEWS

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being. On Thursday, June 29, 2017, an early release day will take place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These meetings will

allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success. As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 29, 2017 only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 12:00pm. Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time. Parents/guardians whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE

The grade 8 class had a fantastic time our capital Ottawa from May 10 to 12th. Students visited the Supreme Court of Canada, Parliament Hill, Rideau Centre, the Byward Market, Aboriginal Experience and the War Museum to name a few. Students got to feel like a university student staying in residence at Ottawa University. All the best to the grade 8’s as they graduate and move on to secondary school. We will miss you.

LOST & FOUND

Students and families are encourages to look through the Lost and

Found bin to claim any of their belongings, before the end of the

year. We have a number of sweatshirts, shorts, hats and other

gear that we would like to see returned to their owners. Smaller

pieces, such as jewelry and glasses are kept in the office.

Medications

Families are asked to claim any

medication that has been left

with the office during the last

week of school. Epi-pens will need

to remain at school until

Thursday, June 29th. Returning

students are asked to pick up a

medical form from the office for

the 2017/18 school year and return

them on the first day.

PLEASE LEAVE THE FLIP FLOPS FOR THE BEACH!

While flip flops are great for the beach, they ARE NOT safe footwear for school. Be sure that your child has safe footwear for school—running shoes, sandals that have straps that can be secured to the foot, etc.

E.T. Crowle’s Art Club Trip to the

Paint Lounge On May 25th, students from Grades 4-8 enjoyed an evening of relaxation and art creation. The group spent two hours at The Paint lounge, painting and exploring new techniques. Their work will be displayed at Arts Night on June 14th.

Message from our Trustee As we near the end of the school year, I want to thank you for all that you do to strengthen our schools and communities. This is a good time to celebrate your child’s achievements over the past year.

One of our goals in the Trustees’ Multi-Year Plan is to “continuously increase student achievement and well-being through a culture and caring and learning.” That includes a culture that emphasizes engagement and positive relationships among all the members of the school community – students, staff members, families and community members.

You, as parents/guardians, are our most important partners when it comes to education. The support you have provided to your child throughout this past school year will help to strengthen our schools and make a difference to your child’s learning.

I encourage you to continue engaging your child in learning throughout the summer, and to help them to see the connections between what they are learning in school and the world around them. There are so many opportunities to do this over the summer, whether that’s planning a budget with your child, enjoy-ing the natural beauty in York Region, reading a book or visiting local sites. Whatever your plans are this summer, I wish you all a successful end to the school year, and a safe and enjoyable summer.

On Thursday June 1st, 40 LC Assistants celebrated a successful second term with the traditional "LC Potluck". Everything from sushi and samosas to meatballs and lasagna filled their stomachs! This event is always popular and heavily attended. Thank you to parents who sent food with their children as we couldn't do it without your support.

Thank you as well to all LC Assistants in Grade 8 who will leave us for high school. Your support in the LC was much appreciated.
