Crystal Maintenance and CareCrystals and Gems are such an integral part of our livesthat it is imperative that we know how to cleanse, pro-gram and utilize them to our and their peak efficiencyand advantage. During this column we will address eachof these as well as many other aspects of gemstone al-chemy.Some of the enhancements that grace our existence areso much a habitual part of our life and life-style that wedon’t even think of them as crystals or magical in anyway, Examples of this are wedding rings which are ritualtools of commitment, birthstones which are amulets ofwell being and health and everyday pieces of jewelrythat are amulets of beauty and enchantment. Any adorn-ment that is comprised of stones and metals, preciousand semiprecious has an energetic signature and reso-nance and affects the wearer accordingly. Most talismatic,amulet and adornment pieces act as shields against out-side energy interference although when used consciouslythey may also be used as am amplifier of our own en-ergy. This is one of the reasons that the crown jewels ofmonarchy have such significance and value, they holdthe energetic resonance of all the previous wearer.We can create our own crown jewels by consciously car-ing for and wearing our jewelry.

Using crystals and gemstones consciously is a great en-hancement to our well-being, however there are many ofyou who simply wear your pieces for adornment and fash-ion accessories. Whether or not this is the case, the piecestill has an energetic and physical effect on the wear.Many times a person will have a favorite piece of jew-elry that they will wear non stop for a time and thensimply take it off and never wear it again, most say wellI just got tired of it, maybe... or more likely you have anenergetically overloaded piece of jewelry sorely in needof cleansing. If it isn’t cleansed it will at best cease to beattractive and desirable and at worst remove itself fromservice by getting lost or breaking.

How to cleanse your jewelry and gemstones.Cleansing is not the same as cleaning. Cleaning is re-moval of physical dirt and soil from the piece to enhanceits visual beauty, cleansing is the removal of energeticdebris to create optimal energetic performance.DO NOT USE SALT OR SALT WATER!!!! DO NOTUSE TAP WATER. It is harsh, harmful to the energy of thestone and weakens its effectiveness for future use.To cleanse a crystal that has been used in daily wear andadornment, the simplest method is to immerse it in waterfrom a free running source such as rain, river , lake, streamwater in a glass dish for 24 hours.

This will clear negativity and unwanted energy signaturesand restore it to its natural energetic frequency.If a piece has been severely used, or if water from a freesource is not available, the other method is to bury it,return it to the earth for 72 or more hours and the Motherwill restore its natural settings.Whenever you have used crystals or worn your jewelryand adornments in severe circumstances, it should be bur-ied to recharge and realign its frequency.There is a kit available that uses a platinum monatomicwater that will clear a stone or jewelry piece in momentsand will help to clear your energy as well when you areprograming, more about this in an upcoming article or con-tact me directly for further information.

What if I have used salt in the past?Many of you have read in a book or been verbally ad-vised to use sea salt to cleanse your stones and talisman.The only time I would recommend salt as a cleanser is ifyou have had a very violent and traumatic experienceand the piece is extremely rare and expensive then saltwould be appropriate to attempt to restore balance to thepiece. Salt is very harsh, it not only weakens the fre-quency of the piece it also prevents the piece from beingable to take on new programing. If you have used salt.....You may attempt to restore its vibrational frequency inthe following manner....Soak the piece in water from a free running source for 24hours, them bury it for 72 hours in the earth wrapped innatural fibre and finally to recharge it leave it outside infull sun and moon energy for a full 28 day lunar cycle.This will restore the stone to its original signature so thatit can work at full efficiency.Gemstone DisposalSometimes despite our best efforts, a stone talisman oradornment cannot be restored or repaired, these are livingentities and should be disposed of with respect and dig-nity. I was taught to wrap the piece in natural fiber such assilk or cotton and bury it. Return it to the earth to beabsorbed and reused by nature.

While i feel that this plays up humanities tendancyto lean toward separation it is helpful to haave distinct names fordifferent crystals based on their functions.
