If you have ever been interested in woodworking and are looking for a great place to start, this is it. Familiarize yourself with different pieces of woodshop equipment and how to use them safely. Begin by choosing one of five custom sign design projects, and then complete your sign by learn how to build frames and distress using chisels, scrapers, and worm holing. Additional activities will include: staining, painting, chalk painting, glazing and various finishes. Leave class with a handy new skill set as well as a new one of a kind sign to take home. No class: week of July 7. WEEKEND WOODWORKING: INTRO TO WOODWORKING AND POWER TOOLS Dates: June 9 and 10 Days: Saturday and Sunday Time:9 a.m. 4 p.m. Location: Canyon 133 Instructor: Jessica Larsen Fee: $80 +$22 supply fee paid to instructor This is a class for anyone who wants to learn the basics of woodworking, have little to no shop experience, or are intimidated by power tools and want to step out of their comfort zone to create a fun, easy project. INTRO TO GLASS BLOWING/TORCHWORKING Dates: June 13 - 27 Days: Wednesdays Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Location: 496 Madrona Instructor: Wes Overlin Fee: $40+$50 supply fee paid to instructor Torch, tools and safety gear are provided. This semester-long course is designed to introduce students to the basics of torchworking borosilicate

(hard) glass, a.k.a. glass blowing. During the semester, students will be introduced to shop equipment, setup, maintenance, tools of the trade, and safety, all while learning the fundamental basics of hands-on torchworking by molding solid glass into shapes and figures, creating pendants, beads, and introducing blowing tubular glass into vessels. This course is designed for the individual who is interested in the shop, processes and developing skills to make functional solid and blown glass projects, jewelry and art.

GLASS BLOWING – VESSELS Dates: June 14 - 28 Days: Thursdays Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Location: 496 Madrona Instructor: Wes Overlin Fee: $40+$50 supply fee paid to instructor Torch, tools and safety gear are provided. In this class, you will learn the fundamentals of blowing borosilicate glass – manipulating tubular glass over a bench-top torch and

shaping into glass vessels with outside color for art, jewelry, or gifts. Additionally, participants will learn the basics of tools, safety, equipment and techniques of this versatile and popular artform.

GLASS BLOWING – OPEN STUDIO Dates: June 11 – July 30 Days: Mondays Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Location: 496 Madrona Instructor: Wes Overlin Fee: $60 +$10 per hour that you use for supply fee paid to instructor Torch, tools and safety gear are provided. Our T.A.G. Open Studio gives participants the opportunity to work independently in the studio while meeting other torch-working artists. These sessions are for those who have

already experienced the art of torch-working and would like to continue to work on their skills or projects, or if you want to Just Try It out and see if you like it.

JUDO FOR BEGINNERS: THE GENTLE WAY Dates: June 4 – July 27 Days: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays Time: 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Location: Rec Center 231A Instructor: Bryan Matsuoka Fee: $70 + $20 gi rental each session Judo is an Olympic sport with a history and tradition based on mutual benefit for all. It is a great sport for ages 8+up

with built in anti-bullying principles. This class is an excellent sport for cross training as we teach you throws and ground techniques. The traditions of Judo also included are self-respect, respect for others, and property. Opportunities include local tournaments and guest teachers from the USA Elite Rosters. Students may begin this class at any time during the semester.

BEGINNING KARATE Dates: June 4 – August 15 Days: Mondays and Wednesdays Time: 6:10 – 7 p.m. Location: Rec Center 236 Instructor: Jesse Clark Fee: $80 + plus $25 gi purchase payable to instructor Age: Adults and youth 14+ (acceptations may be made with instructor’s approval) Karate is an excellent way to help develop coordination, confidence, physical fitness, and mental

strength while gaining valuable social skills. Shotokan Karate of America (SKA) has been teaching traditional Karate in the USA since 1955. SKA was founded by Tsutomu Ohshima who was one of Master Funakoshi’s last direct pupils, studying under him while attending Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. Because of SKA’s strong resolve to offer high-quality martial arts to the public, SKA has remained non-commercial and non-profit and continues to offer authentic, traditional martial arts instruction at affordable rates through more than 140 dojos across the United States and Canada with affiliates worldwide. Mr. Ohshima granted Instructor Jesse Clark permission to instruct SKA in Twin Falls in 2011. Jesse Clark, nidan (2nd degree black belt), is the CSI head Karate and self-defense instructor for CSI. Take your Karate skills to the next level! In this class, you’ll get a chance to learn additional techniques, attend meets and special events, and be taught by guest instructors. Advanced Karate class members must be members of SKA. Instructor Jesse Clark, nidan (2nd degree black belt), is the CSI head Karate and self-defense instructor for CSI. CSI/IDAA SUMMER DANCE CAMP INTENSIVE Ages: 12 - 18 Dates: July 15 – 20 (One Week) or July 15 – 25 (Ten Day) Times: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fee: $285 (One Week), $415 (Ten Day) $487 (One Week w/ Room and Board) $855 (Ten Day w/ Room and Board) $50 late fee after July 1 Location: CSI Campus CSI Dance Camp provides intensive training to

students ages 12 and up who have had a minimum of two consecutive years of dance. Students choose their schedules and take five to seven hours of class per day in ballet, jazz, funk, tap, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, modern, musical theatre, improvisation, and pilates. The camp features an impressive guest faculty of professional dancers and dance instructors from all over the country. At the end of the day, all the hard work is offset with fun and exciting downtime activities.

JUST DANCE FOR JUNIORS Ages: 9 - 11 Dates: July 21, 2018 Times: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fee: $85 Location: CSI Fine Arts Center This special day camp is designed to introduce younger students to the concept of an intensive workshop. No dancing experienced required! The camp features the same instructors as the regular camp -a guest faculty from around the United States, bringing a wealth of talent and knowledge to assure each student achieves their highest potential. The day will include an array of such classes as ballet, modern, jazz, musical theatre, tap, and hip hop.

CSI THEATRE CAMP Ages: 10 - 18 Dates: June 25 – 29, 2018 Times: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fee: $185 or $205 after June 8 Location: CSI Fine Arts Center Hey, kids! Want to go to the one summer camp where you’ll learn how to use stage makeup to give yourself (or somebody else) bruises, gashes, and old man wrinkles? Do you want to learn how to swing a sword, take a fake punch, and fall without getting hurt? What about learning how to act and take stage directions? All

of this and more is available in the week-long adventure that is CSI Theatre Camp. The camp will consist of age-appropriate breakaway classes such as makeup, set design, stage lighting, stage combat, acting, audition prep, puppets, improv, mime, costuming, musical theatre and more!

CSI JUNIOR THEATRE CAMP Ages: 6 - 9 Dates: June 18 – 20, 2018 Times: 1 – 5 p.m. Fee: $60 Location: CSI Fine Arts Center This three-day afternoon camp, a companion to the regular CSI Theatre Camp, is designed to introduce younger students to the world of theatre. Junior campers will get a behind the scenes tour of the CSI Fine Arts Center and learn the basics of what goes into a play -who does what, stage

direction, how to express your emotions through performing, face painting, stage voice and movement, fun with costumes, as well as preparing a short showcase for moms and dads.

MUSIC FEST! Ages: 12 - 18 Dates: June 11 – 15, 2018 Times: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fee: $225 Location: CSI Fine Arts Center Music Fest, a music day camp for students age 12 to 18, is an opportunity for students to participate in many areas of music and interact with professional faculty of music educators from all over the state. Students choose a major - strings, vocal, handbells, musical theater, percussion, organ, or

piano - and spend significant time each day in classes related to their major. All students participate in the camp choir and have three elective periods. There are a wide variety of elective classes to choose from. On the last evening of the camp, all students perform in the Music Fest concert. Note: We have moved the band students into the CSI Summer Band Experience, where they will get specialized instruction on brass instruments in both jazz and classical music.

CSI SUMMER BAND EXPERIENCE Ages: 12 and up Dates: June 25 – 29, 2018 Times: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fee: $275 Location: CSI Fine Arts Center Do you love music? Whether you are a hobbyist, a middle or high school student, or have just always wanted to learn to play, the CSI Summer Band Experience is the perfect opportunity for you! In this week-long summer camp, jazz and classical music tracks are available. Students will get the

chance to have direct contact with renowned performance faculty six hours each day,

learning all about their instrument during daily sectionals, working with their peers in small chamber groups and full band settings, learning about the building blocks of music, improvising in music theory, and experiencing the greatest musical recordings and historical performances of all time in the listening lab. A culminating performance as part of the Jazz on the Canyon Festival is always a highlight of the summer! So get your instrument off the shelf, come on down to CSI’s beautiful campus, and have a great time making new friends and great music this summer! CAMP MASTERPIECE Grades: 1-8 Dates: June 18 - 22 OR June 25 – 29, 2018 Times: 9 – 11:30 a.m. Fee: $129 Location: CSI Campus – Hepworth Building Camp Masterpiece is the College of Southern Idaho's summer art camp. In Camp Masterpiece, young artists will discover a world of inspiration and creativity through open-ended, age-appropriate art lessons in drawing, painting, and sculpture. We will

explore different media working on these projects as students learn various art techniques. Better yet, in this camp, visual and performing arts are combined with play, games and a snack, and the week will culminate in an art show and a performance. A Camp Masterpiece T-shirt is included

CSI HIGH SCHOOL ART INTENSIVE Dates: July 9 – 13 Ages: Grades 9-12 Location: Art Complex 112 and 102 Times: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Cost: $225 The CSI High School Art Intensive is a weeklong introduction to the 2D arts offered at CSI. This Camp is designed for students entering grades 9-12 who are interested in art and in what CSI has to offer. Over the course of a week, students will be

introduced to a sampling of drawing, painting, design, and printmaking medias that will then be complied into a handmade book. If you are looking for a creative outlet over the summer, this Intensive is for you! Limited to 12 students. Camp Director Angela Batchelor holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts From Boise State University. She taught for Portland Community College before coming to CSI to teach in the Art Department where she instructs Art History, Painting, Drawing and Printmaking. Angela also maintains an active studio practice focusing on Book Arts and Printmaking.

SPORTS PERFORMANCE TRAINING FOR YOUNG ATHLETES Ages: 6 & up

Dates: June 11 – July 2 (Session 1) and July 9 – August 1 (Session 2) Days: Mondays and Wednesdays Times: 12 - 1pm Fee: $99 per session Location: CSI Gym 233 & 236 Don’t lose your edge over the summer by

developing the skills and stamina to become a better athlete! This course will focus on speed, quickness, agility, and jumping to help young athletes enhance their athleticism and develop the skills necessary for safe and effective sport participation. Travis Bunker will help you become stronger and quicker in your sport of choice. Travis has a master’s degree in Sports Conditioning and is the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the CSI athletic teams. He will push your son or daughter to reach their potential and improve the right way! This class is for students of all experience levels and can be adapted to the individual needs of the students. INTRO TO RESISTANCE & STRENGTH TRAINING FOR YOUNG ATHLETES Ages: 10 & up

Dates: June 11 – July 2 (Session 1) and July 9 – August 1 (Session 2) Days: Mondays and Wednesdays Times: 1 – 2 p.m. Fee: $99 per session Location: CSI Gym 233 & 236 This course will introduce young athletes to safe exercises in the weight room taught by NSCA

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Travis Bunker. Young athletes will learn many different total body exercises to help strengthen and prevent injuries. The focus is not on “how much weight” or “maxing out” but how to do the exercises safely and with the correct form to enhance performance. This can be very beneficial to athletes going into or currently participating in high school strength or sports programs to prepare them for weight classes or continue what progress has been made during the school year. Body weight exercises, resistance bands, and light weights will be utilized to help your son or daughter build confidence in their abilities. Come get stronger!

CSI KITCHEN ACADEMY – APPETIZERS OR TAPAS Ages: 9 - 12 Dates: June 11 - 15, 2018 Times: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 2 – 5 p.m. Fee: $129 Location: CSI Culinary Arts Kitchen Calling all Junior Chef! Come experience a culinary adventure in appetizers and tapas. These are small snack items that are popular for sharing and trying different cuisines. In this fun five-day class, young chefs will practice

essential kitchen skills and master some fundamentals of cooking and kitchen safety. Learn to make appetizers like the pros as we master techniques for phyllo tarts, stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta, caprese skewers, mini enchilada tarts, baby hasselback potatoes, cornmeal popovers, and more. This series will include kitchen safety, proper food handling, food preparation, etiquette manners, table setting, presentation and of course math and fun. Come join our chefs in a safe environment that encourages discovery and creativity.

CSI KITCHEN ACADEMY - COMFORT FOODS AROUND THE UNITED STATES Ages: 9 - 12 Dates: July 9 – 13, 2018 Times: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Or 2 – 5 p.m. Fee: $129 Location: CSI Culinary Arts Kitchen Calling all Junior Chefs! We will be touring the United States and discovering comfort foods in different regions. Our Kitchen Academy is a perfect place for students to develop, build upon, and sharpen their culinary skills as they progress through the week. Planned around a

unique theme to immerse young chefs in a world of culinary creativity and discovery. This series will include kitchen safety, proper food handling, food preparation, etiquette manners, table setting, presentation and of course math and fun. We will be preparing shepherd’s pie, baked ziti, chicken pot pie, macaroni and cheese, tuna melt, peach cobbler, Kentucky hot brown, and of course Mississippi mud pie. This Beginner EV3 Robotics camp is open to all boys and girls interested in applying science, technology, engineering, and math while learning real-world problem solving skills and gracious professionalism from the valley's own award-winning 5026 Tesla Coils FTC Robotics Team. Space is limited to the first 32 registrations.

LITTLE ROBOTITIONS ROBOTICS CAMP Ages: 6 - 8 Dates: June 5-6, June 7-8, August 7-8, or August 9-10, 2018 Times: 9 – 11 a.m. Fee: $50 Location: CSI Fine Arts 164 In Little Robotitions Robotics Camp, younger students will learn new skills in science, engineering, technology, and coding using the LEGO WeDo 2.0 robotics kits and software. In this camp, students learn the important 21st century skill of programming the intuitive way – by bringing their adorable

creations to life. What parents love and the students don’t realize is they are also sharpening computational thinking skills like logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and modeling simulations. In Little Robotitions Robotics Camp, children are empowered to ask the right questions, define problems, and design their own solutions by putting scientific discovery in their own hands. They'll also learn gracious professionalism from the valley's own award-winning 5026 Tesla Coils FTC Robotics Team. Class sizes are limited to 10 kids per session.

ADVANCED EV3 ROBOTICS CAMP Ages: 9 - 14 Dates: August 8 - 10 Times: 12:30 – 4 p.m. Fee: $100 Location: CSI Fine Arts 164 In the Advanced EV3 Robotics Camp, students will use LEGO MINDSTORM EV3 robotics kits to design and build programmable robots using motors, sensors, gears, wheels, axles, and other technical components. They will learn how to understand and interpret two-dimensional drawings to create three-dimensional models and gain practical, hands-on experience using mathematical concepts such as estimating and measuring distance, time, and speed. They'll learn gracious

professionalism from the valley's own award-winning 5026 Tesla Coils FTC Robotics Team. Space is limited to the first 32 registrations. Important: This class is ONLY for students who’ve taken the Beginner EV3 (LEGO) Robotics Camp. Please contact the camp director with any questions about eligibility for this advanced camp.

IDAHO WRITING CAMPS Date: July 16-20, 2018 Ages: Grades 3-9 Location: Shields 105 Cost: $165 (non-members), $135 (Cabin members) Writing Camp in Twin Falls is a weeklong workshop for Idaho kids in grades 3-9. Camps are led by a professional teaching-writer from The Cabin who designs imaginative, hands-on creative writing enrichment. Throughout the week, students will encounter challenging

prompts and write lots of new poems and stories. They’ll also receive in-depth comments from teachers and learn how to revise toward publication. At the end of camp, students share their writing at a public reading, and publish their work in The Cabin's end-of-summer print anthologies. Register online after March 1 at www.TheCabinIdaho.org or by calling 208-331-8000. Scholarships based on financial aid are available.
