CSR Initiatives - 2013 Q2 SAFETY AWARENESS CUM HEALTH CAMP FOR TRUCK DRIVERS HELD ON 30TH JUNE 2013 To create Safety Awareness amongst the Truck Driver’s community and to provide the Medical Assistance and awareness on General Health to the truck drivers and their Families, a Safety Awareness cum Health Camp was organized on 30 th June 2013 as part of May Day Celebrations. The program was held at the nearest vicinity of the Terminal and in the Marriage Hall organized by the Truck Drivers Association. CCT has arranged General Health Camp which is inclusive of Eye screening / Dental check up, General tests of BP / Cholesterol / Diabetes besides special consultation on Gynecology and Orthopedic related ailments with the help of M/s Apollo Hospitals and Vasan Eye Care of Chennai. Safety Promotional Films with special focus on Road Safety and Terminal Safety were screened for the benefits of participants by our QHSE&T Team as a part of this program. Around 400 participants including truck drivers, their Spouses and their children benefitted. This program was chaired by the chief guest and sitting MLA Mr. D Jayakumar, former Speaker of Tamil Nadu State Assembly & who belongs to Royapuram constituency. Chief Guest and our CEO were felicitated by the Truck Driver & Cleaner Association President Mr. Asai Thambi & as part of CCT gesture, our CEO also felicitated them with momentos. Mr.Asaithambi, President Anna Thozhizhar Sangam greeted Mr.M.Jayakumar & Mr.Ennarasu Karunesan in the Stage with followed by the guest speech by Mr.Ennarasu Karunesan & Mr.M.Jayakumar. There was a lucky draw organized by CCT to the Truck drivers, the winner of which was given a Lucky Prize. BLOOD DONATION CAMP AT CCT

At request from Apollo Hospitals, as part of corporate response, CCT had organized a Blood donation

camp on 21st June 2013.Dr.B.K.Madhan Kumar, Blood Bank, Apollo Specialty Hospital headed the Team.

Employees from CCT as well as Contract workers numbering 32 volunteered for the donation. Around 32

units of Blood was collected which would be used for the cancer patients, especially babies with some

kind of Leukemia and tumors who constantly need blood and blood products.

REFURBISHMENT OF TOILET FACILITY AT ETIYAPPA NAICKER HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL

As part of CSR initiative, the refurbishment of Toilet Facility for students and teachers at Vallal Etiyappa

Naicker School was initiated and completed before the School reopening for the academic year 2013 –

2014 during June 2013. By virtue of this, the rest room facilities would bring sign of relief amongst

students and teachers community in terms of Hygiene, cleanliness and will to maintain good house

keeping, in an improved atmosphere. Feedback received from the users were good as this has been the

long pending issue waiting for redressal

DRINKING WATER FACILITY FOR THE TRAILER DRIVERS AT CCT In order to avoid unnecessary pedestrian in CCT and ensure DPW Safety standard, at that same time to address the basic need of drinking water facility to trailer drivers, it was decided to fix 2000 KL water tanker in each lane of IN- Gate at CCT at height of 6 foot from the ground level, so that the trailer driver without even getting down from his cabin, on the move, can collect the drinking water & consume it. Accordingly, with help of internal fabricating contractor, a permanent structure was made in all 3 lanes of IN—Gate on which 2000 KL Sintex water tankers have been fixed. Necessary drinking water has been filled in & on 3rd May 2013, the above 3 Drinking water tankers have been made operational, the

inauguration of the same done by M/s Ennarasu Karunesan, CEO – CCT, Mr. Aasaithambi, President – Anna Thozhizhar Sangam & Mr. Sampath of AITUC .

HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM FOR WOMEN WITH SPECIAL FOCUS ON CANCER AWARENESS

In commemoration of the International Women’s day Celebrations on 8th March 2013, a Health

awareness program with special focus on cancer Awareness was organized in association with Apollo

Hospitals for the benefit of the CCT Women Staff, Employees’ Spouses and Contract Women Workforce

comprising of 23 Women. The Welcome address given by Mr.Chandrasekaran – GM – HR, IR & Admin

emphasized the importance that women should have on their health for the well being of themselves

and their Family followed by the formal introduction of Dr.Gowri Meena MD DNB MRCOG (UK), CIMP -

Gynaecologist, Apollo Hospitals who was the chief guest of the day.

CEO in his inaugural address highlighted the facts of how women’s health is important to a family and

the extra focus that women should have on them.

Dr.Gowri Meena started with a note on the dietary routine that women should adhere to for a healthy

life. The Session then moved on to focus on Breast cancer, Uterus Cancer, Cervical Cancer and the HPV

Vaccine available for it & Ovarian Cancer. Awareness on the precautionary steps to be taken to detect

cancer at the early stages through regular Health examinations was also explained. The Session was

continuously intervened by questions from the audience which was well addressed by Dr.Gowri Meena.

The program ended with the individual consultation of the participants with Dr.Gowri Meena.

Overall the session was a very useful one and provided a wider insight on cancer related to women.

WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

The International Women’s Day was celebrated with great zeal amongst the Women Staff of

CCT on 8th March 2013. The Celebrations commenced with “Coffee with CEO” where all the

Women folks met CEO and had a general talk about work life balance. CEO shared his views on

this score which was well received by the Women folks.

The highlight of the day was to inculcate the School Students from our nearby vicinity on

Women Health, Hygiene, Nutrition, Safety and how to protect themselves from Harassment.

The Women Folks of CCT made a presentation to the students on the same followed by Quiz

and gifts distribution.

The Session was interactive, where the Teachers and Students shared their experiences on the

proud feeling of being women.

FIRST AID TRAINING PROGRAM AT ETTIYAPPA NAICKER SCHOOL.

As one of the CSR Initiative a first aid training program was conducted on 28 Dec 2012 at

Ettiyappa Naicker Higher Secondary school to create and promote awareness about first Aid

amongst the school children. The training was given by Lion D.Muthukrishnan and he

enumerated on First Aid Basics, Bleeding & Arresting, Injury due to Fracture, Fire & Snake Bite.

SCRIBE ACTIVITY

Following CCTians extended their helping hands by acting as Scribes for the under graduate

exams held for the visually challenged students. The Exams were held at Queen Mary’s College

for a duration of 3.5 hrs and the medium of the same was both in English and Tamil. Team HR

applauds the volunteers and expects many more to volunteer in future for this noble cause.

UNVEILING OF PAINTING BY ARTIST OF IMFPA

DP World has commissioned paintings from artists belonging to Indian Mouth and Foot

Painting Artists association (IMFPA). The artists chosen are physically challenged and have

painted with their feet or mouth in the above context, a small function was organized at our

Terminal to unveil the painting done by an artist belonging to IMFPA on Thursday, 8th Nov

2012. The painting was unveiled by Chief Guest, Capt. Arul Lawrance, President, Chennai &

Ennore Steamer Agents Association in the presence of Mr. Ennarasu Karunesan, CEO. Mr.

Ravindran, the artist interacted over Skype with the audience and shared his experience on the

making of his art

BEACH CLEANING CAMPAIGN BY EMPLOYEES OF DP WORLD CHENNAI

In line with the INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP DAY, Employees of CCT took up a beach

cleaning campaign at the Marina Beach, Chennai on Saturday, 15th September 2012 led by

Mr.Ennarasu Karunesan, Director & CEO. The campaign commenced at the Gandhi statue of the

Marina and concluded on the shores of Marina beach. A two hour cleaning campaign ended up

clearing about 15 bags of garbage from the beach.

Representatives of Indian Maritime Foundation headed by Mr.Joy, Zone Captain for TN &

Puducherry and Head – Operations of findnearyou.com - Online Media Partner, International

Coastal Cleanup(ICC) 2012 who were also present at the campaign appreciated and thanked the

CCT Team on this novel CSR initiative.

EXHIBITION OF PRODUCTS MADE BY DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSONS

CCT in Association with “Nandhini – voice for the deprived” organized an Exhibition of the Products

made by differently abled persons on 5/7/12.”Nandhini” is an NGO and has a network of differently

abled persons who have equipped themselves in making handmade products. With a view to

encourage and motivate such talent and make them more self – dependant, such an exhibition was

organized and the response was overwhelming.
