Our MissionCSUSB Outdoors’ mission is to provide the community with a diverse range of outdoor recreational and educational opportunities . We incorporate “Leave No Trace” and cultural/historical knowledge about the areas we visit . Participants will learn how to recreate safely in the great outdoors, develop an appreciation and understanding of our natural surroundings, experience personal growth and leadership development, learn teamwork and healthy communication skills, form new relationships, and of course . . . have fun!

Cancellation and Transfering PolicyAll trips must be paid in full at time of enrollment . To cancel your participation, you must contact (909) 537-BFIT . Failure to contact CSUSB Recreational Sports at least 72 hours in advance will result in a 100% loss of fees or a fee equal to the trip’s value . 72 hours to 7 days will result in a 25% cancelation fee or a fee equal to 25% of the trip’s value, minimum $10 . Cancelations more than 7 days will result in a full transfer of fees or a refund minus a $10 processing fee . You will also be responsible for any non-refundable fees incurred due to your cancelation . Transferring trips/programs constitutes a cancellation and is subject to the aforementioned policy . Transfers must occur at the time of trip cancellation . Trip values can be found on our website . All refunds are by check and take 4-6 weeks to process .

Trip CostCSUSB students and SRFC members pay the lowest price . Others are priced as followed: Faculty, Staff & Alumni Association members/Affi liate/Community Members .

Family Outings*A few specifi ed trips are open to youth 15 and over when accompanied by an adult . All participants must be in adequate physical fi tness .

1 - Relaxed: 1-3 hrs . activity per day

2 - Easy Active: 2-5 hrs . activity per day

3 - Moderate: 4-6 hrs . activity per day

4 - Vigorous: 5-8 hrs . activity per day

RegistrationRegister for trips and programs in person at the CSUSB Student Recreation and Fitness Center . All our trips are open to anyone 18 and over unless otherwise noted .

IncludesAll trips include transportation, most meals, qualifi ed leaders, activity instruction, all camping and entrance fees, and specialized equipment .Meals: Most of our trips include some meals, with the exception of travel meals while on the road . For more information about a specifi c trip, please refer to the trip information sheets on our website at camp .csusb .edu .

Yosemite CampingApril 24-26 // Fri 12pm - Sun 10pm PRE-TRIP: April 22 @ 6pmYosemite National Park is one of the fi rst wilderness parks and most popular in the United States . Yosemite is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can fi nd deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more . While there, we will be camping in the park and taking side trips to view the thousand foot granite walls, some of which include the famous El Capitan, exploring the valley and taking in the scenery .

We will start our epic journey to catch the majestic sunrise from Glacier Point . Then, Sentinel Dome, Illilouette Fall, Nevada Fall, the top of Liberty Cap, Vernal Fall, the Mist Trail and the Merced River . Camping Grand Canyon CampingMay 22-25 // Fri 8am - Mon 10pm PRE-TRIP: May 18 @ 6pmWe’ve all seen images of the canyon on print or on screen but there is nothing like arriving at the rim totake it all in – the immensity, the depth, the atmosphere, and the light . During this 3-day, 2-nightcamping trip, we will be setting up camp at Mather Campground and taking a one day to hike to PlateauPoint where you’ll have great views of the Colorado River that formed the towering canyons all around .

Zion CampingMay 22-25 // Fri 1pm - Mon 10pm PRE-TRIP: May 20 @ 6amTo experience Zion, we will camp out and hike among its towering cliffs . During the trip, we’ll be canyoneering along the famous Zion Canyon Narrows on The Virgin River . If you’re up to the challenge we’ll hike the famous Angels Landing Trail fi lled with switchbacks, ascending over sheer cliffs with chains bolted into the rock face to serve as handrails . Trip includes transportation, 5 meals, camping, personal gear, campground fees, leaders, and spectacular views .

Monument Valley Road TripJune 25 - July 1 // Thurs 8am - Wed 8pm PRE-TRIP: June 22 @ 6pmOur fi rst stop of this epic old west camping adventure will be Zion National Park, with massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that soars into a brilliant blue sky . On the way home we will campout on the rim of the Grand Canyon which overwhelms our senses through its immense size . The immensity, the depth, the atmosphere, and the light cannot be captured on print or screen the way it is seen through your eyes . This will be the trip of a lifetime!!

It’s a place where you can paddle through crystal clear waters in the crisp morning air, snorkel in some of the most vivid coves in the island, or take a nice hike in the surrounding hills . That Catalina feeling of tranquility is better known as Island Time . Island Time allows you the time to do all the things you love to do, at your own pace . When you’re on Island Time, you’re always having the time of your life .

Yosemite Falls BackpackingJune 5-7 // Fri 12pm - Sun 10pmPRE-TRIP: June 3 @ 6pmYosemite Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in North America with a total drop of 2,425 ft . That’s more than twice the height of the Eiffel Tower! Within it’s nearly 1,200 square miles, Yosemite has deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more . We will truly appreciate all the beauty of summer in the Yosemite backcountry, backpacking through the park and spending two nights under the beautiful star fi lled skies!

The Narrows is a slot canyon with sheer cliffs rising a thousand feet above you . We will be camping on the banks of the Virgin River . Not only will we be spending a night in the Narrows but we will spend two more days exploring all the things this inspiring park has to offer . Yosemite BackpackingSeptember 1-6 // Tues 8am - Sun 10pmPRE-TRIP: August 27 @ 6pmOn this breath-taking, 6 day adventure we will be spending 3 nights in Yosemite National Park’s backcountry between Tuolumne Meadows and Yosemite Valley enjoying the vistas from one of Yosemite’s fi nest views, Cloud’s Rest . We will also be viewing the gorgeous Cathedral Lakes and Cathedral Peak along the way in the backcountry . After all that backpacking we will spend another night in the Yosemite and have a chance to explore the valley the next day . (First four registrants may also be able to summit Half-Dome)

Big Bear Lake KayakJune 6 // 8am - 8pmSeptember 27 // 8am - 8pmThe city of Big Bear Lake is located in the San Bernardino mountain range at approximately 6,750 ft (2,060 m) with plenty of recreation activities and sights to fi ll a whole weekend . Surrounding the lake is a thriving forest full of pine trees such as the Ponderosa pine, Jeffrey pine, Sugar Pine, Lodgepole pine, and others . We will meet at the Student Recreation and Fitness Center at 8am to pack up the van . Then it’s a short 1 hour drive up the San Bernardino Mountains . Once there, we will explore the town and have lunch . Afterwards, we shall get ourselves situated for kayaking in Big Bear Lake! Pismo Beach Kayak May 1-3 // Fri 2pm - Sun 10pmPre-Trip: April 29 @ 6pmWe will head to Pismo Beach along the Central Coast of California for a weekend of camping and ocean exploration . After a night of camping and a lesson we will head for the Pacifi c . Depending on the conditions, we will explore the arches, caves, and rock gardens off Shell Beach, which are only accessible from the water or launch from historic Port San Luis where we’ll venture along spectacular coast of San Luis Obispo Bay and San Luis Obispo Creek Estuary . This trip is designed for the beginner but enjoyed by the experienced .

Kings River Rafting April 25-26 // Sat 8am - Sun 10pmPre-Trip: April 23 @ 6pmKings River is a famous whitewater river located in the Sierra and Sequoia National Forests . Kings River originates high in the Southern Sierra and fl ows through Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks . We meet at the SRFC at 8am to load up the van and head up to Kings River Expedition Base Camp . We spend the night camping and wake up and head down the river on a whitewater rafting adventure . After our class III river run we’ll head back to campus, stopping along the way for dinner .

American River Rafting May 29-31 // Fri 12pm - Sun 10pmPre-Trip: May 27 @ 6pmThe American River is one of the country’s premier recreational and historical rivers in California . Located in the heart of the Sierra Foothills and in the middle of Gold Rush Country, the tiny towns of Coloma and Lotus are the epicenter of California Rafting . The South Fork in particular is one of many popular white water rafting destinations in the American River . The river is divided into two sections: the Upper (Chili Bar Run) and the Lower (Gorge Run) . This 21 mile stretch of river with Class III rapids is sure to get your adrenaline rushing!

So Cal Surf Overnight May 29-30 // Fri 2pm - Sat 10pmPre-Trip: May 26 @6pmThis trip is designed for the new or experienced surfer looking for a more relaxing experience than our one day trip . Our destination is Carlsbad State Beach, where we will set up camp and get a few waves in before relaxing by our camp fi re and calling it a night . The next morning starts with breakfast and more time riding the waves . We return back to campus by 9pm .

First we’ll visit the Palm Springs Art Museum which features a sophisticated collection of art spanning from the 19th - 21st century . we will enjoy the rest of the night at Villagefest . Every Thursday evening, downtown Palm Springs transforms into a diverse array of artists, artisans, entertainers, and purveyors of fresh fruits and veggies, fl owers, jewelry, snacks and sweets . SpecialtySand Boarding & Body Boarding - Pt . Mugu April 19 // 8am - 8pmPt . Mugu is located in the Santa Monica Mountains with rocky bluffs and natural sand dunes . We will climb to the top of the sand dunes and sand board down . Just imagine snowboarding but on sand dunes . After a few runs on the sand we will head to the beach for some body boarding . Lunch and an adventurous time will be had by all!

The day will start with a hike in the east fork of the San Gabriel River which will be crossed at different points . After trekking 4 .5 miles we will arrive at the Bridge to Nowhere . Once we arrive at the bridge the time will be yours to take a leap and dry off those wet clothes you may have gotten from the river . Lunch will be provided before or after your jump!

Frisbee Golf Wrightwood August 7 // 8am - 5pmPlay a round of disc golf this summer at the highest course in Southern California . Mountain High’s Sky High Disc Golf Course was recently rated one of the top 25 courses in the country and top 3 for scenery . Course includes 27 holes and takes us on a 2 .5 mile hike through the historic Angeles National forest where players may see hawks, deer, coyotes and grand vistas . On this monumental day we will experience 8 “Bucket List” items that showcase the diversity, art, architecture and food of the City of Angels . Our day will start with a walk on some the Secret Stairs of Silver Lake and then head to the breathtaking Disney Concert Hall for a tour . We will lunch at Philippe the Original, the inventor of the French Dip Sandwich and we will make a withdrawal at the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM . Next we will check out the Watts Towers Art Center as we make our way to world famous Pink’s Hot Dogs for dinner . We will round out our day with a stop at the Griffi th Observatory and a stop at the Chandelier Tree . Bring money for meals . Highlights include the Secret Stairs of LA, Disney Concert Hall, Watts Towers, Griffi th Observatory and the Chandelier Tree . TRACKS Monthly TRACKS Weekend

Join a group of CSUSB Students on these volunteer service and community engagement trips! Students will have the opportunity to work with one another on service projects that are designed to examine issues of justice, diversity, and social responsibility in our community . In addition to the 2-4 hours of service work, our trips will include fun recreational activities . The monthly and weekend trips are FREE and open to CSUSB Students only . We encourage you to rent some gear from us and explore our surroundings . Within two hours drive of campus there are hundreds of great outdoor adventures awaiting you . Technical skills include equipment, food preparation, logistics and clothing needs . Leadership topics include: decision making, critical thinking, informal interpretation, teaching skills, leadership qualities and styles . The course includes 3 on campus workshops, two 1-day trips, a multi-day training trip and a 16 hour Wilderness First Aid Course . All class sessions are required . Take this opportunity to expand your leadership abilities in the outdoors . This course is required to apply and interview to become a Volunteer CSUSB Outdoors Leader .

Register at the CSUSB SRFC by Wednesday, April 24th, 2015 . Upon registering you will receive a questionnaire to complete and bring to the fi rst workshop . The fi rst workshop will include a group interview . After the fi rst

workshop and review of the questionnaires we will select candidates to continue with the Outdoor Leadership Development Program . Once selected you will pay program fee .
