• When carrying angle is increased so that the forearm abducted excessively in relation to the upper end the deformity is known as cubitus valgus

• Rare• Seen as a complication of fracture of

lateral condyle of humerus

Causes

• Previous fracture of lower end of humerus or capitulum with malunion

• Interference with epiphyseal growth on lateral side from injury or infection

• Turners syndrome

Clinical features

• Visible defect-cosmetic • Secondary-tardy nerve palsy

Tardy nerve palsy• Also called traumatic ulnar neuritis• Because of friction neuritis ulnar nerve moves

over the medial epicondyle every time the elbow is flexed and extended

• C/f-tingling and numbness in the distribution of ulnar nerve

• In complete lesion there may be paralysis of intrinsic muscles supplied by ulnar nerve

Treatment

• Mild deformity-no treatment • Moderate to severe-medial closed wedge

osteotomy• Tardy nerve palsy-Anterior transposition of

ulnar nerve
