SAN LUIS OBISPO CAMPUS: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6 3 4PM | ROOM 4403 ABOUT THE PRESENTER John Patrick is the assistant director of the Cal Poly Debate Team and an adjunct faculty member in Cuesta College’s Languages and Communication Division. Dr. Patrick has been invited to universities and colleges the US, Canada, Europe, Africa, South America, Asia and the Caribbean to conduct speech and debate trainings designed to promote critical thinking and civic discourse. He has coached multiple debate teams to the world championship, and has coached multiple teams who placed at the US Universities Debate Championship. His current professional project is to promote a turn in academic debating in America away from elite tournament circuit debating and toward civic engagement.
