What is CUFX?

Credit Union Financial Exchange (CUFX) is a free, vendor agnostic, broad integration standard lead by the CUNA Technology Council and designed by leading credit unions and vendors. CUFX uses XML to define the objects and schemas for integration solutions between Credit Unions, Vendors and Core providers.

Key Early Learnings - MyCUID• Integration and interoperability standards are key requirements for

MyCUID deployment.• The key benefit for credit unions to adopt MyCUID is to provide a

seamless authentication member experience across all services and channels.

• An API-based strategy was determined to be the best approach for MyCUID early integrations.

• The fastest path to mass adoption can only result from engaging with channel system integration partners using interoperable standards.

FIS Code Connect• What is FIS Code Connect?

– An API platform that provides a central access point for FIS to expose and manage all FIS solutions via APIs.

– Allows credit unions and fintech partners to publish and manage their own APIs, so that they can easily integrate, leverage, and deliver solutions across any digital channel.

• Why FIS Code Connect?– Rapidly brings open APIs to market,

empowering innovation– Significantly reduces integration and

development– Has a plug and play structure – start using it

right away– Is deployable both internally, direct to clients

and publicly

Decision to Embrace CUFX

• Requests for integration with various third party vendors were increasing.

• As a core processor, we need to be flexible enough to handle multiple vendors providing the varied and similar services without becoming overwhelmed by third party APIs.

• Using the CUFX standard promised to save time on integrations allowing us to focus on improving our core product.

Page 24: CUFX Success Stories Webinar - CUNA Councils€¦ · • Requests for integration with various third party vendors were increasing. • As a core processor, we need to be flexible

Determining Our Approach to CUFX as a Core Processor

• Representing multiple credit unions meant determining our place in the CUFX architecture not only for our immediate needs, but also for the ever-expanding field of services and ensuring that CUFX had the structure that we needed for our data.

• David LaCroix was very responsive to our questions. He helped point us in the right direction for certain data messages and allowed us to join a working group session where we were able to present a case for additional fields in the standard.

• As we take on more integrations with different vendors and services, we are continuing to learn, adapt, and improve our API.

Coding in Anticipation for Adoption

• When the opportunity presents itself to do additional coding for endpoint services that we do not currently offer, we take advantage in anticipation of further adoption.

• Along that same thought process, I joined the working groups which has been extremely helpful not only in improving my understanding of the standard, but also in learning how other organizations are leveraging the standard.
