Children’s Sunday School News Our sweet Miss Christin Wilson is graduating from WCU on December 13th! She has been the leader of our Super Sunday for a LONG time at CUMC, and we wish her all the very best! We will have our Super Sunday on December 14th from 10-10:45 a.m. in the small fellowship hall where we will be getting ready for Christmas! Please join us if you are in Pre-K through 5th grade! Thank you to everyone who helped pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We packed 38 boxes to send to children across the globe!

Thank you so much for all your hard work, prayers and support as we sought to be in ministry with the people of Venezuela. We had a wonderful experience and It would not have been possible without your help. Thank you for allowing us to share in the work of Christ in such a special and meaningful way.

From WCU Recreational Therapy Association

Thank you, as always, for supporting the Recreational Therapy Association this fall. RTA has been very active this fall (the

Executive Council has kept me hopping!). Some highlights were:

• RTA donated $400 to the Karen Styles Scholarship Fund. Over half of this money came from an additional fundraiser at

Zaxby’s in October, but the students contributed $155 of monies they had earned from church suppers here to make the total

donation. (If you are interested in making a donation to this fund, please contact me or Brenda Holcombe at

[email protected])

• 22 RT students were given a small amount of financial support to attend the North Carolina Recreational Therapy

Association conference in Raleigh, NC. These students included two of the four Past President’s Scholars chosen from

across the state. The money for this came directly through the Whee Wednesday dinners that we did at CUMC.

• 25 students volunteered to help with the Starlight Night fundraiser for Full Spectrum Farms. They provided children’s

activities and supervision for young people on the Autism spectrum and their siblings, as well as for other families in

attendance.

• 15 students volunteered for a respite weekend during fall break at Camp Royall in Moncure, NC . Camp Royall is the largest

and oldest camp for children and adults on the Autism spectrum in North Carolina.

While the list could continue, know that your support of our students helps them to learn and grow in ways that faculty cannot

accomplish in the classroom. They are an active bunch, inviting speakers to campus every semester, and getting out to learn about

RT in their local and professional communities every month. Again, we appreciate the opportunity to have this church family be a

part of their endeavors.

Coats for Kids of Jackson County On Saturday, November 22, the 6th Annual "Coats for Kids of Jackson County," a local mission project, had its second distribution day for 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of Sylva. At this event, 138 children and 50 adults were blessed with warm clothing items. On the first distribution day, October 4, the project helped 200 children and 65 adults, making the grand total of 453 people served by this mission project in 2014. This project would not have been made possible without the generous outpouring of support from our community; to everyone who helped from donating items, volunteering time, providing food for volunteers, donating monetarily; also to area churches and businesses who participated, and to those who said prayers and kind words of support for the mission project, a 'WARM' THANK YOU!!! The Lord willing "Coats for Kids of Jackson County" will continue to help local children and families in 2015.

Great Christmas Gift suggestion!

The Wesley Foundation United Methodist Campus Ministry at WCU invites you to help them raise needed funds for FREE by doing something you already do, shop for groceries at Ingles.

The Wesley Foundation has Ingles Gift Cards available in $25, $50 and $100 denominations. The cards can also be used at SAV-MOR. All you have to do is purchase cards at face value using cash or check made out to the Wesley Foundation, and then use them when you shop at Ingles. The Wesley Foundation will earn 2.5% on the cards. Cards can be purchased in the church office. And Sheri Turk and Donna Cox will be selling the Ingles cards on the first and third Sunday mornings of each month. This is an easy way to help the Wesley Foundation. We hope you will take advantage of this on a monthly basis.
