From the Principal…
Kiorana,
Cook Island Language week Yesterday we celebrated Cook Island Language Week with our assembly. It was wonderful to see how our students embraced the culture and learnt authentically about it. This ties in with our conceptual understanding for this year that - identity is shaped by relationships, connections and the environment. It was fantastic to see so many parents attend our assembly.

We had drummers from the Pasifika Resource group come in and teach us about different drums and ukurere used in Cook Island music. The Alfriston College Cook Island group also came to perform for us. They even got some teachers up to dance, including Miss Maggs who is an ex Alfriston College student. We finished the week off on Monday with an ura from our own students and awarding certificates to students for Cook Island's work at assembly. Meitaka ma'ata
