Your Stay at Royal Holloway Our quiet campus-based setting means your delegates will be able to enjoy a relaxed and safe environment, whilst our proximity to Windsor and Central London means that they can take in tourist attractions, theatres and night clubs too.

Renowned within the University of London, the Unions 94 group and amongst NUS leadership as one of the most sought after campuses in the country, we regularly play host not only to ULU Annual Training, but also a variety of away-days, conferences and retreats for the national movement.

The campus has recently been confirmed as one of the three official villages for the 2012 Olympics and AMSU Conference 2010 hosts, among many others.

Royal Holloway University of London has a highly experienced team of staff and excellent conference facilities along with many inspiring social spaces. We believe that Royal Holloway has many positive attributes to attract both you and your delegates and we hope you find the following information useful

What is AMSU? AMSU is the Association for Managers in Students’ Union. We support all students’ union staff who manage any aspect of students’ unions services or activities - not just managers of staff. Nearly all permanent staff in students’ unions fit with the AMSU definition of managers.

Your Registration to the Conference IncludesAs well as full access to the AMSU Conference workshops and seminars your exchange program will include visits to:

The John F. Kennedy Memorial A stepped pathway made up of 60,000 granite setts winds up through woodland to bring the visitor to the glade where a seven tonne block of Portland stone stands on a plinth and is inscribed with words taken from President Kennedy’s inaugural address in 1961. A paved pathway leads to the Seats of Contemplation from where there is a superb view of Runnymede.

The site of the Magna Carta signingMagna Carta (Latin for ‘great charter’) was sealed by King John at Runnymede in June 1215. Known as the Great Charter of English Liberties, it formed a peace treaty with barons who were in revolt against the King due to his disastrous foreign policy and arbitrary government.

Air forces memorialThis sobering yet beautiful memorial to the men and women of the Allied Air Forces who died during World War II. An inscription over the entrance to the cloister reads: ‘In this cloister are recorded the names of 20,456 airmen who have no known grave. They died for freedom in raid and sortie over the British Isles and the land and seas of northern and western Europe’.

WindsorWindsor is particularly well served when it comes to shops. As a tourist town there is a wide selection of gift shops around the castle, together with stylish shops and restaurants in Windsor Royal Station. Windsor Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world dating back to the time of William the Conqueror and is the oldest castle in continuous occupation. It is one of the principal official residences of the British monarch.
