    Current statistics shows that Nigeria population is160 million +

    Interpreted to mean that, Nigeria is the largestblack country in the world.

    The country is largely divided between Christiansand Muslims. However, Christians are more inpopulation.

    There are more than 250 ethnic languages inNigeria

    I come from the Bini speaking people, which is

    per-dominate in the southern part of Nigeria.

    There are six geo-political zones: But dividedalong the North, South, East and West.

    Thirty-six States, 774 Local Authority

    English is the official language for communication

    Nigeria History

    Nigeria was an artificial structure initiated by theBritish which had neglected to consider

    religious, linguistic, and ethnic differences.

    Nigeria, gained independence from Britain in1960, had at that time a population of 60 million

    people consisting of nearly 300 differing ethnicand cultural groups.

    The Federation of Nigeria, has never reallybeen one homogeneous country,

    This is obvious, the colonial master decided tokeep the country one in order to effectivelycontrol her vital resources for their economicinterests.

    Thus, for administrative convenience theNorthern and Southern Nigeria wereamalgamated in 1914.

    cultural and religious tensions among thevarious peoples of Nigeria.
