CCC-NCAEOP…
dedicated to a promising tomorrow!
A friend sent me a photo recently
of the rainbow above...when I
looked at it, I thought about
this year's NCAEOP theme:
Dedicated to a promising
tomorrow...and what that really
means to me. Every new day holds the
promise of a better tomorrow....what can I do
to make each new day better than the last?
Can I encourage someone along life's journey?
Share my experiences with them, be a good
listener? We are not even promised tomorrow,
so be thankful for every blessing. Especially
your friends, your family, your co-workers...I
want to take this moment to thank each of you,
for your friendship, your work ethic, and your
dedication to NCAEOP!

Pride in NCAEOP Contributed by Laurie Pender (Webmaster)
I have had the privilege of being part of NCAEOP since 2000. My introduction into this professional organization was through Ms. Carolyn Chambers (retired member) who was a data manager at Gallberry Farm Elementary School. One thing that I remember most about Carolyn is that she always had a smile on her face. Her love of life, and her infectiously joyful attitude was reflected in everything she did. She was a genuinely happy person who we called Sunshine. Carolyn was an active member of NCAEOP. She encouraged membership…and more, involvement. It wasn’t enough to just have your name on a roster, she believed when you are a part of something great, you have to DO your part in making it that way!
In the years since, I have had numerous opportunities to reflect on my work both in the office and in our association. I enjoy my work, and I take pride in doing it well. Do I still have things to learn? Absolutely! I am a work in progress. The word pride can sometimes be a bad thing, we shouldn’t be prideful, but one thing I have learned through NCAEOP is that we should take pride in what we do as office professionals, what we bring to the table for the children of Cumberland County.
According to John G. Miller, the author of QBQ: The Question Behind the Question, PRIDE means Personal Responsibility In Doing Excellence! In order for NCAEOP to be an excellent organization we must take PRIDE in it. (www.qbq.com)
Do you take PRIDE in your work…in our association? Is it evident in the work that you do, both in your office, and in NCAEOP? If you are not currently active in the leadership of NCAEOP at the local, district, or state level, I encourage you to become actively engaged in NCAEOP. Get involved! NCAEOP, a professional organization that we can all take PRIDE in!

Highlights from the 8th Annual Holly Day Workshop
Holly Day Workshop - Seen at the Scene
The 8th Annual Holly Day workshop was held November 15, 2013, at ERC and was sponsored by the Cumberland
County Chapter of NCAEOP. There were 107 registered participants who had a fun-filled day. Participants were
able to gain knowledge during our break-out sessions which included “I-Pad for Dummies,” Learning Google
Docs & Google Drive, Safety Awareness/Self Defense. Here’s a testimony from a participant on that day... “I-Pad
for Dummies was undoubtedly the best workshop I have ever taken. Nancy Donaldson is an amazing instructor.”
Participants were also entertained with a special presentation by the one and only Michael Mozingo…“Honey to
the Hush.” A special thanks to surrounding Counties: Harnett, Robeson, Bladen, Union, Onslow, and Wayne for
their participation and support of this event.

I wanted to share with everyone that we
had about 50 pounds of food collected
during the Holly Day Workshop which
was donated to Fayetteville Urban
Ministries! Our hat/glove drive went well
also; we collected 61 hats and 80 pairs of
gloves. Two full boxes were sent over to
Pamela Story! Thank you everyone! We
are doing great
things for our students
and community!
