Created in 1973, Creative Concepts is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. Since its conception, founders Bobbi and Wayne Lednum made it the mission of Creative Concepts to live by the words of author and economist John Ruskin, “It’s unwise to pay too much, but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money-that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the job it was bought to do.” Longtime employee, Jeanne Muller says that is what she believes has been the key to their success over the past 45 years: “Offering customers good quality merchandise at reasonable prices.” The family business that began as a window fashion and accessory store has grown to include furniture and complimentary design services. A cornerstone

of the community, Creative Concepts continually supports the community and fellow businesses. Jeanne Muller says her favorite thing about being a part of this local business community is “the way the community looks out for each other” and the way the businesses work together and support each other. Next time you are driving down route 26 in Ocean View, or Route 1 in Lewes, stop in and shop “where concepts become reality.”

STATE PARKS PAYING DIVIDENDS FOR DELAWAREANS

In Fiscal Year 2016, nearly $53 million in state and local taxes were generatedbyDelaware’sStateParks.Thefirst-everindependent economic impact study of Delaware’s 16 state parks found that the tax revenue generated by park visits in FY 2016 alone included $12 million in hotel taxes; $4.7 million in income taxes; and $9.5 million in property taxes. Further, the study found that for every dollar spent in the state budget to support state parks, $40 was generated in economic activity -- far surpassing the levels of neighboring states. Overall, there were an estimated 4.1 million visits to Delaware’s 16 state parks in 2016 & 2017. Of that total, the report noted that over 1.6 million traveled at least 50 miles and listed a state park as the primary reason for their visit. Read more here.
