    QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH:

    Qualitative research has its origin inpositivism put simply this means that there

    is a built in assumption that there is an

    objective reality that can be measured can

    observed in some data. The types of data

    derived from quantitative research are

    usually numeric and linked to the natural and

    physical services.

    QUALITATIVE RESEARCH:

    Qualitative research can be defined as

    research that produces findings not arrived

    by means of quantification. Many qualitative

    researchers share a humanistic philosophy.However this individual beliefs originate from

    within the discipline in which they operate

    ACTION RESEARCH:

    This method is investigation may be

    seen as being at the other end of the scientific

    spectrum from quantitative study and is only

    A definition offered by Carr and Kemmisis that action research is simply a form of self

    reflective enquiry undertaken by participants in

    When more than one method of

    investigation is used it is called triangulation.

    Triangulation can take place both within

    methods and across methods. An example of

    this is where a study has used a quantifiablemeasure, such as weight of a patient plus a

    qualitative interviews.
