Professional Experience 2005 - Present Rena B. Wright Primary School Nurse: Promote health and well being to increase the success of the learning process of 340 Title 1 preschool through 2nd grade students through physical, mental, social, and emotional support. Provide leadership regarding health policies and health issues such as safe school environment and critical incident health care management. Serve as a liaison between the school, family, community and health care providers. Initiate FAMIS resources program and Eyeglasses Assistance Program. (Rena B. Wright Primary is a Title 1 facility with 78% free and reduced lunch enrollment). Serves on Child Study Committee to benefit the health and support the education of students in the school.

Instruct parents of approximately 60 students with asthma to identify signs, symptoms and triggers; rescue vs. controller medications, asthma action plans, spacers, and medication administration. Assess students with asthma utilizing routine lung checks before and after PE and recess to determine symptom management. Coordinate with cafeteria manager and school nutrition workers to identify students with life-threatening allergies

(approximately 7-10 per school year) and provide training in epinephrine administration, allergic reaction signs and symptoms, and Heimlich maneuver.
